you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

Hey sodman,
You may want to do a search, this topic comes up quite a bit. I'd say try some VHS tapes, like the work of Darwin Ortiz, Steve Forte, and Sal Piacente. On DVD, you're limited to Richard Turner's "The Cheat" and Dustin marks "Cheating at Blackjack: The Real Work", until Piacente and Malek's new work comes out. be well, JW |

Are you interested in the sleights, or is your intent in actuallly scaming people? if its the latter, I wish you the best of luck...because sleights are not, in mine and other people that actually do that, what is all about. and it will just be a matter of time before you get caught. Remember, there's always a bigger shark out there...
if your interest is the sleights, then I would recommend allan ackerman's advanced card control series, lennart green and Martin Nash's the charmin chet series. just be ware that the sleights involved in this field require time and diligence, so just ask yourself if you are willing to put down the time and effort into it before buying the material.

Without a doubt the Steve Forte series is the cream of the crop.

I've got Malek's DVD on the way. I'll let you know what I thought when I get it.
Another worth mentioning, is Jason England and Paul WIlsons "Unreal Work" DVD - both are quite professional, and handle cards very well. The GPS series is hands down the absolute best reference for any type of gaming. It would do little for someone not initiated in the basic real of card table artiface, but even so, it's entertaining. Once you've laid the groundwork for yourself, the series is indespensable. Ortiz is going to be a lot of faro work, which personally, I can't be bothered with. If you're wanting to know what gets the money, faro work is just going to simply collect dust. What is your motivation? Also, Nash and Green are magicians - not gambling experts. Their moves, while entertaining, wouldn't fly at a card table.

One DVD that is hardly ever mentioned when we talk about cardsharping DVDs is Herb Zarrow - The Zarrow Shuffle- Yet it is said to be one of the very few moves that's travelled from magic to the card table rather than the other way around. I know that is true and believe it is a must have DVD for anyone interested in Cardsharping. Herb teaches it very well but as he says on it in quoting Vernon: "I might not be able to do it anymore but I can still teach it." So don't expect a slick demo but you can expect to be taught one of greatest moves I have seen for the card table. You have to use your own head to work out how you could use it and not think of it as only a false full deck shuffle. Talking of using your own head: I would also say that Glen Bishop has come up with concepts for magic that an enterprising cardsharp would be well advised to study.

Tommy,
Good one! I always forget that DVD when people talk about this topic, even though I always think of it as a cheats move. The Zarrow shuffle is one of the most beautiful things I've seen as well. It's just a masterpiece. It should be studied by magicians and hustlers alike. Vandy

He's offering it on his website at http://www.elmagicshop.com and at a couple of other places as well. I don't believe that Malek's DVD will actually teach you how to cheat in terms of 'moves' as much as it is produced to inform and illustrate how to not get cheated and what to look for at the tables. Definitely looking forward to this in the mail soon. |

Darwin Ortiz, Martin Nash, Steve Forte, Richard Turner, Ed Marlo, Jack Carpenter and Sal Piacente are all GREAT resources on the subject. If you wanna get any of the stuff from any of the above people mentioned, get Edward Marlo. He's my favourite, and he was simply the best at what we call card magic now. He would've cheated you badly if he wanted to, and I mean really badly, but I know he wouldn't. Ed was such a nice guy.

Next time you want to create a vid, and endlessly promote it at every opportunity, maybe have a more understandable name, something that relates to the topic?
