Ebony and Ivory is a song performed by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. There is some magic performed in the video too.

I purchased Ebony & Ivory from Anders Moden. I think the effect is outstanding but it will take some practice to get down real smoothe. The down side is replacement bands. You pretty much have to get them from Anders.

Mip,
Yes. but there is a gimmick involved that you must match that type of band. It looks a little unusual to me. However, I did not begin to search for this type of band to see how diificult it may be to find them.

Can You post a short review of Ebony & Ivory? I've been wanting the trick but was told by Anders he hasn't had time to make new ones up and he would e-mail me when he get a batch made up. Smile

Joseph,
I have not performed Ebony & Ivory out in the real world as of yet because I'm still working on the handling. That being said, this is a very visual rubber band linking and penetaration effect. It is a very visual because you use 2 different color bands(black and white) which emphasizes the linking and penatrations. This all happens with apparently no moves because of the gimmick that is supplied. Also, at the begining of the effect you "accidentally" break the white band and tie it back together so you can complete the routine. After the linking and penetrations you offer the linked bands to the spectator for a souvenir, but for a kicker you pull off the knot from the white band and hand them the bands which are truly linked. The last kicker phase does require a switch in which Anders Moden does give some handlings in the supplied notes.
The gimmick that makes this all happen does seem to be well made, but I don't know how long it will last when I put it into my show. If this should break the show is over. Anders does say you must be careful with the gimmick and tells you handle it carefully to get the most life from it. You get enough bands for about 25 performances( assumming you are going to give them away at the end).
This is an expensive rubber trick but I think you can build a reputation with this one.

Thanks for the info. I will also have to play with the item when I receive it, and determine what the failure rate would be, and hopefully, I'm confident that it will be as good as his first effect. Smile

I placed an order for this trick, currently waiting for new shipment. I hope the effect is as good as it sounds . There is a terriffic linking rubberband effect by Chris Kenner. called the "missing link" its a powerful piece of magic and it is done with out any gimmick just two ordianry rubberbands.

I have Missing Link and it is great. Dan Harlan also has an excellent ungimmicked version on his rubber band tapes. I will email Anders for an update on availability. Smile

Despite the cost (the effect is currently US$65), the method is diabolical. I, too, am currently working on the handling, and I am quite pleased with the purchase. Anders also includes a bonus effect as well.

Good Luck -

Anders Moden is a very thoughtful and careful inventor. Ebony and Ivory is beautiful and extremely visual. After purchasing it, I believe it functions better as close up than as a quasi parlour effect such as crazy man's handuffs.
