This is a really good story trick that I have added just before my rabbit production. Practical magic sells it - it is a good item. I get lots of business out of it such as asking if anyone knows the name of a wizard. They say the obvious and I miss pronounce it as larry shotter, parry hotter etc. I was thinking of doing this in a party on saturday but its a lot of 4-5 year olds. do you think they will know harry potter?

Having read all of the books, I personally think 4-5 year olds are a little young for Harry Potter. However, they may of heard of him.

I did something similar at a show on Sunday that I did for 6-7 year olds. I didn't mention his name, but they shouted it out for me.
My 4 year old knows who he is and what he looks like, though she obviously hasn't read the books and I think she is too young for the movies. - Steve |

It depends on the social circle that family is in, whether the children will know of Harry Potter. I've seen some children as young as 3-4 years (I met at a daycare show, with his parents), who had seen the movies and had the books read to them (I would hope, edited, in some parts), and was a HUGE HP fan. He dressed as Harry everyday (this was at Christmas, not Halloween), complete with glasses, wand, costume, etc. I was in shock, but parents raise children in the way they choose.
So, some children 3-7 years will know who Harry is, some will have been shielded from the books and movies and toys (and media exposure about the topic) by the parents. - Donald

I've done several Harry Potter birthday parties for children of this age group. most have been lavish affairs with the kids in costumes and seperated into their proper houses. For the most part the kids have been pretty much disoriented, not fully understanding what it is that's going on. But then at three or four this is probably the first birthday party they've had so that feeling is understandable.
My Godchild will be having a Harry Potter themed party this year or next as he is a big fan of the books and movies. But then he's six now (granted a very advanced six) so he's seen all the movies and read (or had read to him) all the books.

Wow! There's someone with patience! The last HP book could be used as a door stop!
