Hello
Does anyone have an informed opinion as to the current market value of Slydini's book "The Magic of Slydini" with a dedication signed by the Master? Please PM me. Thank-you! |

Hi Julie,
Believe it or not it is not worth a whole lot as Slydini was very prolific when it came to signing his books. I have every book on Slydini and everyone is inscribed by him. Is the book you have the single edition by Ganson? As the later 2 volume version which came out as The Magic of Slydini and later changed to The Best of Slydini (something to do with copyright I believe) is worth quite a lot more than the others.. I have them all, too, but not all are signed. This particular one is a recent acquisition and appears to be the original (1st generation clear photos and printing).
Thank you for sharing information. Merry Christmas (etc.) to everyone. |

But is it the single book or is it the 2 volume edition?

Hi Julie,
I have seen the Best of Slydini ... And More sell for $100. It was a signed coped and this was maybe 3 months ago, but I don't really know if that was a fair value, condition of the book, etc. I have seen unsigned copies of the same 2-volume set sell for $65. I don't know about your book, though. You might try contacting Richard Hatch at H&R Magic -- they sell a large inventory of used and OOP books. If anyone would have a good sense of the value of your book, I would think Richard does: richard@magicbookshop.com Good luck, Gary |

Julie,
I hope it is worth a fortune! I have his autographed books plus a few pieces of mail from the late 60s. Of course, mine are not for sale. My kids can sell those and others from Bobo, Harold Rice, and others after I die. (I hope there is no rush!) Good Luck! Merry Christmas to you too! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Hi Bob,
Unfortunately it is not worth a fortune. It should be worth more then it is though. The most overpriced book (in my opinion) is Cards as Weapons, which is getting astronomical prices for a non-magic book. This book does not hold a candle to any of Slydini's books but it still sells for collectors prices. If anyone on the Café can tell why they would pay crazy prices for this book and not Slydini's please explain it to me as I can not come up with a plausible explanation.. Rennie

It's probably supply vs demand.
