It is not really an effect but a show of strength with some physics involved.

There was a thread on it, that I responded to, but I will say it again: Just think about it and the trick will all make cents. I have done this completely impromptu before, and it never ceases to change an audience's perception of the magician.

That's all the hints I'm giving out...

It is not an effect. Like mike said it is a test of strenght. It is also a side show act, It is something you would see along with with suspension artist and freak show acts.

So he slams a nail into a peice of wood.Sounds ok but I persona;;y don't like the idea of that.
they thought it was impossible until they met me.

theres no reality in magic

did the magician come before the assistant or the other way around.

Please do us a favour and keep these questions for yourself, nobody will expose secrets in an open forum, and if you want to really learn please start reading about the subject. And if you are interested only in the "secret" you can exit this window, you are not in the right place. That's my impress from your tone if I'm wrong I beg your pardon.
Where should you find this effect? You said well, in the Vertigo special.

This is an old Carnival and Karate stunt.
Any one can do with some practice.
The first time you do it, use a handkerchief in the palm of your hand.
Or something stiff, if your palm is soft. Then work your way up.

I personally will just stay with shock factor feats like sticking thumbtacks in my face and turning my feet backwards.
