Has anyone tried this trick, (#13)which can be found in the "Mind Reading with Cards" section of the above book?
I have a few suggestions for improvements: For the stack, instead of using all spades, as in the original instructions, I find it better to use mixed suits. It helps hide things later, and you really only need the numbers. Have the small stack on the top before you start, and use a false shuffle to keep it there. Don't be obvious about removing a precise number of cards, just spread the deck and make it look like you're just removing a bunch of cards from the top. In the second phase, don't mess around with the stack behind your back. You've already told the subject that you're going to make a prediction. Looking at the stack and cutting it in the right place should suffice. Again in the second phase, instead of discarding cards onto the table in the "down/under" shuffle, place the discards onto the top of the deck. Since they are mixed suits (see above), and in a pseudo mixed-up order (because of the "down/under", it will be more difficult for someone to reconstruct, should they look at the cards. Any other ideas? |
