I am looking for a review on “I am sitting on it” kit by Greg Gleason.
http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/
How easy is it to install it?
Any feedback on audience reaction?

Best regards

Guys,
I suggest that you do an search on the Café on this. There is no problem between Mr. Gleason and George Robinson on this effect.

Mr. Gleason works a lot so I would be willing to bet that there are a lot of touches that he discovered in doing his version of this effect.

Do the search and think it will answer some of your questions.

I must admit that I ordered this and ended up sending it back. I felt that it was terribly overpriced. I'm waiting for the Collector's Workskop chairs.

I am awaer to the two products.
Price difference between collector's and Greg is $400.
Thanks donsmagic but did you return it only because of the overprice? Did you tried to work with it?

I did order it when he had the complete set which included the chairs at the time. I have no problem with it, this was before the kit came out, I not sure about the kit.

No, I didn't even take it out of the package. I'm not a handyman. Infact if I were to pick up a hammer or drill, it would scare my wife. I felt for 350.00 that it was overpriced at what I got. You don't even get the cue cards. It says in the dvd that comes with it that there are instructions what to put on the cue cards but none came with it. I buy a lot of expensive magic and I don't mind paying for quality, but I felt this was way overpriced.

I saw him do it last weekend at a magic convention.

It was a great piece of magic.

Perfect for a STAGE magic show.

I've been using it in my show with no problems its a great piece. Now of course I bought it when it was advertised with the chairs. I don't know what Vikings look likes but I think $800.00 is quite a bit of money for this effect the $400.00 I paid awhile back was reasonable.

We've been doing a "you're sitting on it" type routine for quite a while (since before I saw the advertising for a kit). We made it up ourselves. Cost of sewn cushions, chairs and bits was about $45.00 Canadian.

I'm not saying, don't buy it, but if you're going to, remember, you are buying the seller's succesful routine and their time of creating the props and not just the props.

All the best,

Rob

Hi all,

I have received a fair number of inquiries about building your own version of a "You're Sitting on It" style effect.

I do respect a person's right to build their own props, should they choose to, even if that product or one similar to it is on the market. However, on a personal level, I cannot justify facilitating the passing along of information on how to build these for yourselves when there is someone who is currently marketing it. It is a personal thing.

I would also like to point out that I have never seen the kit currently being offered and have no idea how it works. Nor, have I ever seen any apperatice to create this illusion before. My wife and I sat down and created a workable version of our own based on the premise of card on seat. I had been aware of the effect for many years and began doing the effect without an apparatus while performing walk around magic in restuarants over 20 years ago.

Many of the props we use in our act (though certainly not all) we have built ourselves. (Sub trunk, Zig Zag, Through a One Inch Hole {yes, I have the Steinmeyer book} production boxes, hooped curtains, a Super X style Suspension, Thin Model Sawing, floating table, and of course, You're Sitting on it, to name a few.) Sometimes with help from professional carpenters or welders, sometimes not.

The plans, when required, were purchased, usually through Osborne (sp?) though not always. To the best of my knowledge, we have not infringed upon anyone's legal or assumed copyrights or intellectual properties. Again, it's just a personal way that Pat and I like to conduct ourselves.

All the best to you all and happy building and performing!

Rob
