Title: Mind Master
By: Peter Duffie Format: E-Book Category: Mentalism Price: $10 Total of Pages: 11 Available from: http://www.peterduffie.com Effect: --------- You give a spectator a small pocket diary. From a choice of over sixty names written on cards, a second spectator mentally selects a husband and wife. The choice is free; there is no force of any kind. You (or a spectator) read out a letter that has been in full view from the beginning. The letter reveals the date of the couple's wedding. The first spectator opens the diary to that date. For the first time, the second spectator announces the names he is thinking of. Let's say it's Mr. and Mrs. Ford. Spectator number one reads out what is written in the diary on the predicted date. "Mr. & Mrs. Ford!!" Wow! - Completely self-working. - Use any Diary. - No forcing. - No binary Codes. - No Cue Sheets. - No reset. It's a knock-out! --------- This is Peter Duffie's latest E-version of Mind Master which I am really excited, it's a mentalism effect and the effect is just stunning! I always have deep interest in Peter's diary effects which he has released a few number of excellent diary effects in the past. When I read the description at Peter's site, I thought this effect will use some sleights to achieve the effect but I was wrong, and to my big surprise that in reality, there are no special moves used in this effect. Diary effect is my personal favourites as small diary always handy in my pocket whenever I go and on top of that, this effect has no necessary setup, no reset, no binary codes and best of all, definitely no forcing. It's that powerful! What could you ask for more?? I just love the way Peter presenting this effect especially the Notice of Marriage. Because at that moment, the big surprises register in. And I can attest to that, that the spectators' jaws might just drop on the floor when announced the names which spectator has just thought off. Everything is so easy as Peter has prepared all the necessary tools, just print them out and it takes you maybe 10 minutes to learn this effect. This effect immediately added in my repertoire. Just purchase this effect in no time, it's the best time to entertain your audience with this powerful magic during this Christmas! Why not give your audience a big surprise as a gift! I highly recommended! Check out my new card magic eBooks "The Magnificent Queens" & "Triple Charms" at: www.cardicianden.com My Cardician Den Blog: http://pasteboards.blogspot.com/ |

Thanks Andrew! I have just purchased it. I'm looking forward to receive the file. If I don't like it, I'll blame it on you. Just kidding!
Merry Christmas, Gábor

I received it yesterday. I think it's a very nice routine, though I can't say it's better or worse than other diary effects (i.e. Bob Cassidy's). A good alternative handling beside the others. The strong part is that spectator doesn't say out load the thought-of couple. My only complaint is that it will be a very hard job to translate the certificate nicely that contains the 'prediction'. And of course, if you are too lazy to fill in a whole diary, I don't recommend it.
Greetings, Gábor

I received mine yesterday. This is very easy to perform. It can be adapted so, with a little work, you don't have to stick to the married couples theme. Same basic method as something else but better disguised. It's actually two predictions in one...although, I may substitute ESP-type symbols on the other side of the cards and eliminate the initial prediction. Those who have this will know what I mean...this modification, I believe, helps to further disguise the method. This was worth the money, and I will use it. I am anxious to perform this and see reactions.

Although I have come across a few diary effects, I've never performed one. I have a feeling this will go over very well. And the warm up prediction in the beginning is a nice touch.
I personally might ditch the certificate of marriage and try something else. But I think this will get some very strong reactions from people. Can't wait to try it out.

Does it have to be "Mr and Mrs. Ford"?
That seems a bit more transparent and less miraculous than say . . . "John and Cynthia Ford". Please note, that I'm not fishing for the method. I am already familiar with several diary effects (2 from Bob Cassidy and a bunch of variants). I'm just trying to make sure I know how the presentation looks to the spectator. Thanks, Elliott |

It can be as you suggest...or...you can create your own names...or adapt it for something other than the names of married couples.

I like the idea of adding first names. It might make is slightly more confusing for the spectator to match them up but perhaps not.

I think this is OK, but will work better if, as some here have suggested, some steps are taken to gussy up the presentation and further hide the method. Personally, I would eliminate the warm-up prediction and find some other method of determining which cards the spectator has picked. I also might play with the idea of having the letter actually predict the date of the wedding by having it be handwritten and using a window envelope and a swami gimmick.
