Are self tie bow ties (the real McCoy) popular with this crowd, or is everyone wearing pre-tie (clip on, hook on, whatever) ties. I have become a bit of a snob on this subject lately. I have 3 self tie BowTies, a white satin, a black silk, and a red and black paisley tie. I realy feel like a self tie adds something.

I think it is nice if you can. It doesn't make or break the show.

If you can? You mean accessability or ability to tie the knot? If the latter I have great news for you, it's just a double slipped square knot, same thing you tie your shoe laces with.
