Hi All--
I was wondering if there happened to be someone who offered a sponge ball that is shaped and styled like a golf ball? I have always used the standard Goshman's and was wanting a ball that is of that quality sponge, yet white in color with the dipples. Anyone able to offer a suggestion? I also would like to find the best looking/highest quality set of "Multiplying Rabbits". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Goshman offers such a ball. But it is not as compressible as their sponge balls. They look very good and just a tad smaller than real golf balls.

The best looking set of Multiplying Rabbits are put out by Norm Nielsen.Snow white in color with red and blue sparkly eyes. They are a little firmer than others, and they will turn tan after a while(unless you occasionally wash them),but they sure are cute, and of high quality. At $15.00 they are a good deal. Thanks for reminding me,I am going to order another set.Best. http://www.nnmagic.com/magicitems/closeuppage.htm

As far as Sponge Rabbits as well as other characters the King is Eddie Ace who supplied Lance Burton, David Copperfield, Paul Gertner etc. He works from his house and does them by hand. No website just a phone #. He doesn't mind the calls 412-462-1557. leave message he will call you back.

Goshman makes the golf balls you are looking for. Your magic dealer should be able to get them for you.

Appearing golf balls by Matthew Reesman is by Goshman. The balls are good quality. You get 4 white golf balls, 1 yellow golf ball, one jumbo while golf ball and 3 complete routines.

I recently purchased the Matthew Reesman Appearing Golf Balls made by Goshman . I'm disappointed that the balls are visibly smaller than real golf balls. I'm even more disappointed that a comparison of the balls I received with the standard photo which appears in all the dealer ads for this item show Mr. Reesman holding 4 regular size golf balls between his fingers along with the extra "jumbo" size golf ball and even the "jumbo" ball in the actual set I received is smaller than the one shown in the photo. (unless by some chance Mr. Reesman happens to have very small hands?) If I had seen these in a local magic shop I would have passed, but I bought them from web store based on the photo . Goshman Balls ad photo The whole point of these things is that they're supposed to pass for real golf balls. Anyone who has ever seen or handled a real golf ball will notice right away that these are not regulation size and therefore a bit "fake" looking . Besides thinking they would be realistic looking (based on the photo in the ad) the main reason I purchased the Goshman balls was because of the famous Goshman name , thinking that these must be highly compressible , like the other Goshman sponge ball products we all know and love. Not so. As it turns out I already have some Foam-Flite soft practice golf balls and those balls look like regulation size golf balls and are actually slightly more compressible than the Goshman balls ! On the up side, the routine and moves that come with the Goshman Appearing Golf Balls seems like a good effect , so I'm going to work on it --- using the Foam-Flite practice balls ! |

Some pet shops have sponge cat toys that look like sponge balls. They are not white like regular sponge balls, but are yellow, blue, green and pink.
There are also some practice golf balls by MacGregor that are fairly compressible. Better golf shops and sporting goods stores have them from time to time.

But they aren't the same size as regular golf balls.
I guess it's possible for something to rock and suck at the same time, eh!

The Ireland's Multiplying Golf Balls were not as flexible as a sponge ball.

20 years ago I found great soft rubber golf balls in a toy shop in Tokyo. Only trouble is that in very little time they discolored and changed their feel.

I dug this post up from the ancient bowels of the Café.....my question is to David Todd:
Did you find that those Foam-Flite practice golf balls worked better than the ones produced by Goshman? I'm trying to find a good set of practice golf balls to use as sponge balls because I think it is a good justification for an otherwise hard-to-justify prop, (yes I've tried calling them Nerf balls before too.) If they did work well for you, what is the brand that made them and do you know if they are still available? I also heard Wilson Ultra Foam Practice Golf Balls can potentially be a good sponge ball. Is anyone familiar with these? The routine I perform is Carl Andrews' "Ain't No Mo" so a slightly bigger sponge golf ball would be good to have as well....perhaps the one included in the set by Matthew Reesman. |
