I have to say I seen a dreadful magician on TV the other day. He was on “When things go Wrong”.
This guy advertised for a young lady assistant and got one. Without any further ado or training her first job was to be chained up to a fire bomb and a fuse was lit. In the meantime he attempts to escape from something else and rescue her. He said with straight a face after the girl nearly got burnt to death: I was not too slow, the fuse burnt too fast!
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Well that's just good presentation.

Where I've seen Sankey, I have not found him annoying. I guess there is a little room for personal opinion/preference.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Valentino come's to mind!!

As much as I despise Valentino personally, for what he did as the masked magician, I have to say that when he performed at Magic Island, he did a very nice job. It's too bad that he did what he did.

He coulda been a contenda.

There's just not very much you can get for 30 pieces of silver.

I'll never understand the logic of someone who intentionally set's out to expose and do harm to the art. Then goes on to say, It was not my intention to expose, but to challenge other magicians to come up with bigger and better ideas!!

Sorry, I just don't see the logic!!

Tommy Cooper maybe, Johnny Thompson, no.

Johnny's comedy act NEVER sacrifices the magic for the comedy, except in the one spot when he pulls Pam's dress through the hat. The rest of it is flawless, and very funny.

And he is one of the most creditable cups and balls performers, does the best egg bag, does excellent coins, excellent cards and has some of the most original thinking in illusions of anyone other than, perhaps, Alan Wakeling.

What about the Bird poops on his shoulder?

What about Steve Wyrick? He rented a casino room in Las Vegas, the Lady Luck. Then the new manager terminated him.

Steve is clever. He leased a segment of a mall or something like that and reported to the magazines that he had just "inked a new contract at a higher price."

Flawless sleight of hand. And it's the comedy bit that leads into the dove to handkerchief.

How about just saying the worst magic show you ever saw. No names....just details!

It is my opinion that Blaine is cashing in on the glorification of the stoner persona. I have been informed that I am incorrect about that. If I am correct then he certainly gets my vote. I can not get behind the glorification of drug use, and he comes across as a stereotypical stoner.

Hands down.

The Masked Magician.

He broke The First Rule of Magic, never tell them how it's done.

Many people have mentioned some top name magicians on TV, but they aren't the worst magicians. I think some people just don't like their personalities.

Any magician who calls himself one who relies solely on apparatuses rather than skill. Then again they're not magicians they're gimmicks are the conjurers.

Consider for a moment, if you will, the infamous Andrew "Dice" Clay, real name Andrew Clay Silverstein. Somehow, he is on the list of 100 greatest standup comics of all time -- #95 to be exact. His forte was being a foul-mouthed misogynist. Most women hated him. A lot of men did, too. To me, he wasn't funny at all.

I wrote a book called How to be a Professional Entertainer in which I discuss the pros and cons of doing dirty humor. Don't get me wrong. I really have fun with dirty jokes, but I keep my show clean. Why? When I'm working, I want repeat business. It's that simple. One of the examples of a failed career (because of dirty material) is "Dice." By alienating over 50% of his audience, he became unsaleable.

When the book came out, one of my friends told me that I was wrong about Dice and that he had a new network show. So I told him, "It won't run a full season. The ratings will plummet through the floor."

He told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I wish I'd bet him a C-note on that one. My reasoning was this: anyone who tuned into the show wanted to see the old Dice. Dice clean was even less funny than Dice normal. I was right. The show flopped. Clay couldn't work clean.

Sam Kinnnison, on the other hand, knew how to be annoying, and make sense, too.

BTW, I don't disagree with you entirely. I don't think he is the worst, but I think his floating video is one of the most boring pieces of work I have ever watched. His floating routines are Chinese -- On Too Long.

While the peak of his career was pretty short lived, it strikes me really funny to use a guy who sold comedy albums into the millions, made several TV appearances and movies, and had his own successful cable specials as an example of a "failed" career. 99.999+% of those trying to make a career out of entertainment will fall far short of this standard of "failure."
