Who makes the black and white ones?, the white one has a pearl like finish.

The carney routine is wonderful as usual. simple and direct, as usual.
a nice thing about it is that you see and learn threee new moves. one is an instantaneous color change. and two new ways to show the knife is the same color on both sides. neither of which is a paddle move.

Dynamike, I think you might be referring to the Whit Haydn set. They are made by Mogar.
thanks Frank!

The whit haydn set does not have a pearl finish.
if you contact joe, he can make you whatever you want but the white on the haydn set is just white plastic. http://www.joemogar.com/ here's a page with a special set by joe. stag and mother of pearl http://joemogar.tripod.com/id16.html

My mistake, sorry. However, it IS advertised on the S4S website as white pearl, here, I quote:
"The set of three knives includes one that is black with a ‘stag horn’ type finish, and one that is a ‘white pearl’ smooth finish..."

As for DVD's. I heard that Mr. Dingle had a killer routine with the knives.

I recently purchased the Stag Sensation knife set from Joe Mogar and it's great. The knives are all very well made, have a nice weight, and a real nice feel. I'm new to knife magic and they make learning a cinch. I also picked up Whit Haydn's 'Intrictate Web of Distraction' DVD which is packed full of great material. It's only a single routine, but there's also a section on various moves that I found helpful.

I had a set of Jose De La torre knives years ago that I loved, I'd like to find another set some time, they were a little bit harder to do the move with but they looked great and were small and elegant.

RE: Jose De La Torre knives
Mike Henkel (mhmagicmags@optonline.net) has been selling the Jose De La Torre knives on ebay for a few months.. I would send him an email to see if he has any sets that he can sell directly or at least tip you as to when he might list more for auction.... |

I think Matt Schulein's routine is worth a look, as is the Lewis Ganson routine in Routined Manipulation Vol. 2.
The only place I ever saw Matt's routine was in Phil Wilmarth's "The Magic of Matt Schulein". It's out of print at the moment but EVERYONE should find a copy and read it, IMHO. You will NOT learn any moves. Matt's secret was bigger than that.
Woke up.

There is a lot of talk about the quality of Joe's knifes... let me take a few lines to talk about the quality of Joe himself. I called Joe the other day and left a message on his answering machine. He called me back within the hour. He took all my info over the phone, chatted a while about the knives, then promised me a set of hard to find knives. The next morning I got an email from Joe saying that he had personally worked on the knives and mailed them to me that day. My credit card info hadn't even cleared yet. Joe and I had never met before then; I am sure he had no idea who I am. To me, this is unmatched and uncommon customer service from someone who has reached the level of recognition as has Joe Mogar. I highly recommend his work and him.
Have something to say in your magic. It is rare, interesting and your audiences will thank you for it.
