Dan and Dave's stuff is based highly off of Brian Tudor's work. I suggest in order to thoroughly understand the buck's stuff and perform them, either get the showoff videos or gen X. They aided me a great deal

I didn't say all the stuff was crap, Harwin. In fact I really like the Werm. As for the other moves, I don't know all the names. But there is some good stuff.... Ah and you say you can do the moves with different presentations, than they look different. Than why do you learn all the variations when people don't see the difference. Just do a different presentation. Noone wil notice

Good point, but still our main focus is the magic while yours is the flourishes,
Maybe it is self satisfaction, I don't know, but I enjoy practising them all even though they have their similarities.

Good point too. practice (or training whatever you wanna call) IS fun! So Harwin, we both have solved the problem of flourishes vs. XCM.
You just do your variations of the twohanded cuts because is it just plain fun. I don't mind! Have fun, Harwin! I'll try and be creative and do XCM because I like it and I think it's an artform worth being exposed on it's own. Have fun too, cardfreaky! So that's the end of the wars guys! The Card Freak |

Very good and peaceful points guys.
But the end of the wars? Not likely. As much as I would like it. I seriously doubt it.

This thread about Dan & Dave's DVD has been up for almost a week without being locked, that's got to be a record. Maybe things have changed.

No kidding.
Well, for one reason or another, the HL people have not gotten to this thread yet, so we have a (temporary) peace. Thank god for that.

To answer your question john herm, dan and dave's video can be quite confusing (especially because I think their should be an angle from the performer's point of view). I got this dvd off ebay about a week ago and I have learned the mechanics of 5 of the sweet flourishes on the dvd. (i also believe these are good ones to start out with) Genesis, Kryptonite, West Coast Chaos, T.C.T.C.S.A, and Madonna 2. These take some time but this is all I can do so far (revolution erdanase is to easy to even talk about). Being a magician I feel these flourishes should be used to make a performer look skilled and give them some extra flare. Remember to stick with this dvd, bring it out on a rainy day-don't give up-it was well produced and though challenging, really impresses people. Denny Haney, (from denny and lee's magic studio in baltimore) always reminds me that this is a highlight- concentrate on your magic and not the juggling. This is important but these cuts rock! I also agree with you guys who think xcm and flourishing are different. anyway check out the "pasteboard animations" section, its how I learned a lot of the mechanics, good luck john!

I think that this dvd is great. With patience these flourishes have proved to be some of the most audience loved flourishes I've done.

When I first got this DVD I was a bit disappointed that there were no audio instructions. However, as has already been said the flourishes are not as difficult to learn from the videos as they first seem. Of course it still takes patience - but just take each move one step at a time.
My favoutite is the "Werm". Really showey and it didn't take that long to learn it. Mark |

Kryptonite is without a doubt the koolest one handed cut and best looking one handed cut I know and therefore one or maybe THE best cut on the dvd. But every other cut looks extremely kool too of course.
