Bar Magician
Mike Wild and Todd Diamond http://www.sundragonmagic.com $19.95 for pdf download Warning- if you are easily offended, do not like swearing or blanch at sexual references then this ebook is not for you. This book is for the bar magician or person who works in an adult atmosphere and so the humour is blue, the effects are visual and direct. It is not for everyone. Contents Tips, tricks and advice- these are good practical tips such as when, where and for whom do you do these effects. The why is also covered and is important (more so than the how). Both magicians opinions are given and this shows that everyone has there own style. Cards- 3 effects with the mercury fold. Nothing new but good, solid, visual effects including how to do the fold and how to cover it. Coin bending- Mike's take on a coin bend which was inspired by Jay Sankey's Television Bend. I like Mike's thinking on this and you should read it to see how he motivates the effect. Todd has a simple coin bend that will take a bit of guts and no more set up than any other bend. Very like Bent Cent. Two I.T. effects. More motivation than moves. Mike describes a common hook up which is very practical. Todd's effect is apparently like an effect marketed as the House but arrived at independently. Both very doable but Todd's requires that you have a permanent area of work (like behind a bar!) A Fli**er coin routine- not bad if you like this gaff. Guess which hand the coin is in. Like the Garrett Thomas effect. Probably looks quite clean. I'm not a big fan of this gaff, but that's just me. Two cigarettes having sex- blue, smokers humour with a bit of magic thrown in. Could be fun to do. Mikito Matrix- an Okito box routine with a difference. Can't comment on this Last Call- (called a bonus effect but I can't see why people nominate one effect out of a set as a bonus, you've bought and paid for it like all the other effects). Called a chop cup routine but it isn't really. It's a one cup, cups and ball routine using a coffee cup and creamer pots as the loads. Good idea using things that could be found at the bar but standard stuff. Could be combined with the Sankey effect with the creamer pots (found in Sankey Unleashed and probably elsewhere too). Overall, the thinking behind the routines is the best part of this ebook. Simple direct magic which is fun to read and will be fun to perform. Ideal for this performing situation. Not for the absolute beginner, but not knuckle busting either, so you'll have plenty of brainpower left over to do your job of tending bar and being entertaining. Rating 8/10 Shanester I have no financial or personal connection with either of the authors. However when I had a problem with downloading this file, Mike responded quickly and was very helpful. He provides an excellent service to his customers. |

Thanks for the review on the book, We wanted to show people not more about the thinking behind bartending than the magic. In regards to your claim with the It hook up for my routine being similar to the one the House on Penguin. Actually that hook up is a old Fin Jon Idea and is credited in the book for that. The hook up is a standard hook up with a little difference which you know from owning the book. Anyway Glad you enjoyed it and two cigs having sex is still one of my favorite routines to perform.
Thanks for the support, Todd |

This is the description of the routine from the book feel to contact mike or me at any time. plus you can view more info here as wellhttp://www.sundragonmagic.com/barmagician.htm
Standing at the bar, the magician has two small circular metallic boxes placed on a mat in front of him. The magician opens one box to show that is empty. The magician then opens the other box and removes 4 half dollars from it. The halves can be passed around for inspection, as can both boxes. The magician places all four coins into one of the boxes, to demonstrate that when all coins are inside they completely fill the box, there is no room for anymore. The coins are removed from that box and placed into the other box and the lid is put on. The first box is also covered and placed onto the mat, about a foot away from the box with the coins in it. One by one the coins travel from one box to the other, until finally, the box that started empty is full, and the box that started full is empty. The coins are collected one final time and placed into one of the boxes. The box is closed and placed onto the table. With a snap of the fingers, the box is opened to reveal that all of the coins have vanished completely! Both boxes can again be examined. Thanks for your interest Todd |
