Oops. I mean Hobson. Sorry about the confusion.
Hobson's routine involves resuscitating a "dead" balloon dog via performing "CPR" with a paper bag. If you have the Jeff Hobson Live! video, that's it. Bosco |

I am not sure what the routine is called. I saw a fellow magician perform it at a local fair in Berkshire County Massachusetts. The funniest routine I have ever seen. It is based on the vanishing bandanna "Banana" routine where you empty all of the contents out of a box and play a tape and follow all the instructions and nothing goes right. This may have been his own invention, but if anybody knows of this routine please let me know. I never asked that man where he ever got this brilliant idea from but I would like to have it. Every time you try to do an animal the balloon pops.

I use the Tasmanian devil routine in most shows. Can anyone suggest an alternative figure (I love the road runner idea, but that's just renaming the same figure) that can use similar balloons for repeat shows?
Thanks in advance |

I think the routine was a lot funnier when people couldn't make T-Devils ... today it would fall short of a bad pun IMHO

I open all my birthday party shows with a balloon routine of about ten minutes. Loads of gags, culminating with me promising to make a dog behind my back. I pull out a fully inflated balloon, claim it is a hotdog, and eat it, ending with a mouth coil production. Always gets a great reaction. Routine described in full in Teach Yourself Magic.

Thanks for the invitation to use your balloon routines & sculptures for free Magic George !
magicgeorge has offered free routines in an old '96 post on this thread. its,...... http://www.balloondesigns.net/ewbroutines.html I went there, laughed out loud reading some of the ideas, settings etc. he portrays. His site is worth investigating. I joined up after trying out some attractive balloon sculptures, and 2 routines to a real audience WOW factor !! OK. - my family was the audience. But,.. if they don't like what I do, when I try effects out on them, they are sure to let me know in great detail. Magic George has some guest artists. They put up some really good balloon creations on his site, for free. I tried them. They look fantastic. They are the type of ideas that a couple of hours before joining, I had no idea I could do. I'm so glad I gave him a go. I have, in a very short time, gotten routines I can use straight away, and sculpture skills/knowledge sure to impress my clients, - once I'm more practised & familiar, with the concepts, & can do them without the amount of concentration I have to employ just now. Everything was so easy to learn and apply nearly instantly. I'm motivated, and impressed ! Thanks again George. - Kevin.

Thanks for the kind words, Kevin.
You joined at a good time as I have been a bit lapse the last couple of months for new designs but have just been commisioned to design 6 new models for an advertising campaign for the zoo so expect 6 new animal designs shortly: Penguin, snake, lion, flamingo, elephant and monkey up a tree. Am also currently audience testing the manipulation mouse routine which uses a balloon model like a spring puppet/hankerchief mouse and will be putting a video up when I've smoothed it out. george |
