Thanks for the nice words. My eBay ID is flinnermagic in case some don't know. Ironically, I have nothing on right now! That's very unusual, but will change in a couple days. I think someone has archived (with my permission) all the ads I've written for nearly 7 years now. I'd love to see those myself! Take care, everyone.

I've gone though some of runawayjag previous auctions on Ebay and there are volumes of magical history. Man, what an education we can get!!!

Peter,
Over-hype does not equal bad, I feel it is over-hyped because I read so many posts praising about it. When I received it and watched the DVDs I just feel it is not bad but does not impressed me much. May be I already own your Stealth wallet,Mind reader wallet and the SUC. Or may be I expected too much. |

IMHO, it is just as good, and in some ways better than the Boris Wild deck. The Rama deck is another item that isn't hyped enough. In addition to the several killer effects that are on the DVD, you can perform a totally hands-off version of OOTW with this deck. This is one of the best purchases I've made. We've seen effects that have an incredible amount of hype before they are available, but the excitement fades rather quickly after they become available. I don't have Trilogy or Subterfuge, but it sounds like they both live up to the hype. It has been a while since they were released and people are still posting about these two effects. |

You really want to know why some things are overhyped? The answer is simple, and does not require a long thread. It's called MARKETING and MAKING A BUCK. Enough said.

I fully understand this OVER-HYPING problem which is permiating the forums. It is a shame people cannot simply state a trick for what it is and keep things a bit more non-bias.
Example: My new "Champagne Chop" effect is simply the FINEST CHOP CUP ROUTINE EVER DEVISED! THIS WILL TAKE YOUR MAGIC TO LEVELS UNKNOWN TO MANKIND AND THAT ONLY A GOD COULD COMPREHEND. EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN INTO MAGIC FOR ONLY MINUTES...THIS WILL GET YOU BOOKED ON THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JUST SECONDS OF PRACTICE! AS A MATTER OF FACT, THERE IS NO PRACTICE!! YOU JUST OPEN THE BOX and a TINY MAGICIAN POPS OUT, DOES THE MAGIC FOR YOU, HOPS BACK IN THE BOX WHILE YOU ABSORB ALL THE GLORY AND WONDER! NO OTHER TRICK ON THE MARKET COMES EVEN CLOSE TO THIS EFFECT SO ACT FAST!! ONLY 20,756 UNITS LEFT!! :)

Chance,
I think your methods of promoting your tricks are underhand. I would never mention the STEALTH ASSASSIN unless the STEALTH ASSASSIN needed to be mentioned. The STEALTH ASSASSIN has no reason to be named in this section so I will not mention The STEALTH ASSASSIN again. I know it's the ULTIMATE TOOL FOR THE MENTALIST but that does not mean people should keep praising The STEALTH ASSASSIN. In fact from now on I will ensure that the name STEATH ASSASSIN is not used by me or anyone else. But then again can I stop people mentioning the STEALTH ASSASSIN. I know I will not be able to stop such pros as Luke Jermay, Richard Busch, Nick Einhorn & Tony Razzano mentioning the STEALTH ASSASSIN as they love it but I'm not going to say that on this forum! I hope you see the error of your ways! Yours Sinecerly PETER "STEALTH ASSASSIN" NARDI |

In light of all this shameless self-promotion I'm recommending my marketing suggestion for Wolfs Magic...an immediate rebate/cash back program for those who have more than 7 Wolfs Magic products! (I have 8 going on 9!!) Perhaps a buy 5 and get the next one free...we wouldn't have to tell Shelley.

Electric touch is an amazing effect, and can give the spectator a lifetime experience.
you are not an artist and though a good magician if you say this is not a good effect. there is not a bad effect, all the effects are excellent if presented well. so there is no reason, and its ueselessof making such a discussion. |

If it's useless to post then why post on this thread at all?...you're correct when you say that effects are worthwhile if presented properly...still, some effects don't live up to the "hype" about them...this may be the claims or even the price...not certain I understand the comment you make about ..."not an artist and though a good magician"...to me, electric touch isn't an effect I would use as it imposes upon someone else's personal space...not my style and no presentation would change this...others may say that's a lot of money to pay for something my spectator might believe occurs through me rubbing my feet on the floor...i wouldn't call static cling a "lifetime experience"...of course that's just my opinion and I may be wrong

Well I have not played with ET yet and neither have any of us, but it has so much hype I really doubt ANYTHING could live up to it. The you look at the demo video and well, underwhelming is the word that comes to mind.
Now I WANT to like ET, I think it could be a lot of fun... but can it match the hype? Very doubtful. |

Presently we're on the Hype of the effect Electric Touch...killermagic thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread and others think it's a big YAWN...your feedback is appreciated to keep this scholarly discussion going

These are frwaking forums discussing magci tricks on the internet, not exactly wieghty worldy matters here.
I'm not sure what is so baffling about this thread to so many people... Some tricks recieve huge ammounts of pre-release hype... ET is a great example of this. As such this is the place to discuss if they can or have lived up to the hype, or maybe which tricks flew under the radar and deserved MORE hype. this isn't rocket science here... not reallt THAT hard to decipher. |

I'm not really looking to belabor and argue points nor to pick out typos.
if you do not lie or understand the thread you are free to ignore it and not post in it, that simple. No real need to make an issue of it big or small. I understand your point and simply disagree with it, that's all. Who would of thought such a silly little thread would baffle so many people... it's a shame as it could have been a fun and interesting topic to discuss. |

I don't that they're so much baffled as perhaps didn't take the time to read the entire 6 pages of posts
