Hi, friends!
I'm going to have a show this coming 14th and 15th of Febuary in a bar here in our town. The owner wants me to do a 2 sets of stage magic (30 mins. and 45 mins.) and it must be a Valentine act that I will perform. I have some small illusions here like bisection and light storm and maybe by next week I'm going to be getting a voodoo box. I would like to ask what would be the best props can I use. I'm planning to do a flower routine and my d'lite routine ending with a bouquet of roses. Can you guys help me on what are the best props for Valentine's that can I use for my upcoming show? Thank you!

Spellbinder's Wizards' Journal #8 is just coming online now at The Magic Nook and features Valentine's Day effects. However, many standard effects suddenly become Valentine's Day magic with the addition of some decorative hearts, etc.

Vernet flower Production. Those little flower boxes might play big enough for stage. Torn and restored Paper heart? Maybe if you have a strat-o-sphere you can change the balls around.
-thank you

You might want to throw in some mentalism. Just a thought.

Produce a bottle of Champagne from THIS. (Look in the Smooth as Silk forum.)

Pull your heart out of your chest like David Blaine. :-D
And now on a serious note, you could do sponge rabbits. Use a female volunteer of course and have the rabbits multiply in her hands. Lots of line possibilities there. |

Cardcaptor,
I do not know what kind of budget you are working with, but Richard Hughes of Hughes Magic Inc. has some great products that you might be able to use, send him an e-mail or visit his site, he is a really helpful guy, and has a ton of knowledge. Good luck, if I have anymore ideas, I will be sure to let you know. Sincerely, Beau

Thank you so much everyone! Good idea Bob. I'll try to produce a bottle of Champagne then do airbourne. Beau, I'll try to look at Mr Hughes' website to find something for my show, maybe some silk tricks can do. I already have some bouquets and a routine with them. Thanks BLS. OK, I'll try to do some sponge routine for my show.
Thank you so much everyone, if you still have some ideas please keep posting to this topic. Thanks!

Try to have a CD of a love songs playing while you make roses appear from an empty box. (Do you have any type of box that can produce?) Make about a dozen roses appear and hand them to a female in the audience. If you don't have a box, use another method.
The floating rose trick as MagicalOdyssey metioned above. Use flash paper to make the rose. As the rose is floating light it and turn it to a real rose as David Copperfield did. If you have no th***d for the floating rose, just light the rose and make the switch as you are holding it. |

Thank you so much dynamike! You have a good idea. It might work in my flower routine. I'll try to do that on my show! I think I'll produce the roses using a square circle or I will produce that using a gi****k s**k that I will make.
Thank you so much!

This is just a brainstorming regarding valentines.
1st think anything that is related with this day. Example:hearts, flowers, postcards, teddy bear, nice quote, presents, finger rings, bracelets, nice dress, nice suit, etc. 2nd think about possible scenarios. Example: a. "look what I got for my girl." (and make magic with it) b. "lets see what she got me." (apparently you don't like it and change it to something more expensive or ..) c. "lets all together try to write a post card." (use this presentation so you involve the audiences to the show and ... Maybe at the end you can have a post apear at a previously empty post card etc.) d. .... 3nd try to use the above thoughts with your tricks that you know. Example: As above mention T&R paper heart (with a nice story), produce flowers, transform a cheap bracelet into an expensive one so your girl will like the present because is better now, show your present (finger ring) and make it fly, change the yellow rose to a red one, do a costume change, etc... There are too many things that you can do. As you can see I just put my mind in to it for 2 min, and I came up will all this. So think about it and I am sure you will come up with too many ideas that you will have to start the procces of elimination!

We did not make it to market in time this year, but I have come up with a new silk and card trick for Valentines called Two Hearts and a Diamond. It is perfect for someone getting an engagement ring! It will be on the new DVD.
