I'm thinking of making a performance video for some friends that want to see my magic but live to far away to stop by my house.
But I don't know what tricks should be on this video. I don't want to many math problems (but I got impuzzibilities) And I don't want it to be easy to figure out by watching the video several times (hope there is such a trick) The last thing is that not much audience involvement can be made so the normal card effect where a card is choosen by a spectator might not work so well. I was thinking it had to be something more visual, maybe a coin matrix (any good ones you want to tell me about?) But since I've never done a thing like this before I feel I better ask someone with more experience. |

Just about any coin matrix will work depending on your angles. I know Barry Taylor has a vido with a beuatiful coin matrix. Most effects will look wonderful on video (even better than in person). Do things that change or appear/dissapear, and since it is a tape take your time and view the footage and see if you flash or make any other "tell" signs. Most importantly have fun and relax. Good Luck! Eric D. Redman |

The real secret to making a perfomrance video in a studio (or living room) is to choose the correct audience representative. Don't choose someone who will steal the show or not be enthusiastic enough. It may be tougher than you think.

Oh sure, I can spell "Antidisestablishmentarianism", but I can't type t-h-e.

I must second Bryan; also it's very important that people will have a good reaction to your effects, but nothing could "sounds" fake reactions.
About effects, Invisible Deck or Hundy 500, these have a great impact on lay people. I perform every night these effects and nobody catch me yet... Not for the customer, but all the waiters that see the effects several times in a night! Paolo Venturini |

You could also try an interactive card trick. The one I would recommend is the Princess Card Trick. I believe it has been done on a few TV specials like Lance Burton etc.

Make the difficult look easy, and the easy beautiful.

I find that one a little two easy to figure out, and when you can rewind the video as many times as you want them somone will most likely figure it out.
it works on tv because people don't memoriese all the cards |
