If you have the "keep it forever" disease Lucy says I have and you have old palming coins, you're rich! We have a champagne bucket full of them I'm "saving" for when I need them. When I started getting them they were cheaper than real coins, thinner, and people would give them back to you. Other magicians also gave me theirs when they became too elite to use anything but real silver coins as the sandwich coins came into circulation. (Today those look more fake than palming coins!)

Later (mid 80's) a book publisher had palming coins made for me to use in tradeshows.

Yesterday one very common Abbott's palming coin sold for $5.00 plus $5.00 shipping on eBay!

All these years I save money to use for retirement funds. I should have bought more palming coins! (All that PhD. work in Marketing, Management and Finance for nothing!)

Sell them while they're hot! Four major and one massive token collections are coming up on Ebay soon.

When I see stupid numbers start to appear, I dump my similar item. Cycles are short and sometimes don't come back. Smile

I wonder what I could get for my "Laurie L. Ireland - Palming Coins"?

(No wait...that was just a senior moment!)

Cheers! Smile

PM me, and we can talk. I also have a really nice Roterberg (A.R. marked) coin!

I am guilty of driving those prices a little myself.

Those old Bartl devil coins and the Abbott knock offs are sweet, and hard for us young'uns to come by, except by ebay...

Some great windfalls come from selling on eBay. I sold my first edition of "Strong Magic" for $165 a few years back. Now it has been reprinted.

I don't feel guilty. Maybe the first edition will be worth even more (to collectors) now that there is a second edition.

I wonder about casino tokens that were the backlash to the S.B Anthony dollars the US Government failed to get accepted as money. In the 80s we accepted many of those tokens as tips, etc. As a professor, I even got a paper published about the folly of the U.S. Government's thinking it was in control of such things as silver dollars and speed limits.

Nevada was making the news then too. (O.J. beware! What others try to do in Nevada is usually settled to suit Nevada. Nevada is the Big League! Everything else is fantasy.)

I have a Magic Castle 1976 Prestidigitator Coin. It says, "The Vernon Touch" on the back, has a picture of the cups and balls and six rings with an arrow that says, "you pay". On the front is a small dimple that facilitates spinning the coin on a flat surface. Anyone know anything about this? I picked it up in 1995 at a Mike Maxwell Convention in Sacramento.

More commonly known as the "Vernon Spinning Coin". They do occasionally come up for sale on ebay.
