How about the color commentator spectator who stands at the back of the crowd and tries to prove he knows how you are doing what you do. Failing actual knowledge they just make it up and are so eager to be an expert they speak loud enough for all to hear.
Developed "special" patter for them. A you do as I do will usually take care of them. |

The shock of seeing half your act developed independently by another magician from half the world away but who is working the same festival as you are, is located just down the way from your pitch and is completing his show just as you are to start yours so the crowd can just move a short distance once he is done to watch you do everything he just did.

Gazzo announces his retirement.... and means it!
No trees were killed in the making of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

I offered to take photos for a visiting busker recently. During his act a Muslim protest march began down the road and was destined for his stage(a mainsquare in the centre of town). The march stormed straight through his stage like a tidal wave(about 5000 people chanting and yelling). Opposing religious groups drove by screaming obscenities, fights broke out, arrests were made...
I got some great photos! A performance I'm sure he will remember.

Love to see them photos, I use to live in the Middle east and I took some hair raising photos of riots and street battles. I was pinned down for what was part of a whole afternoon while a battle took place at one time. Any way that was when I was young and stupid and I could not sense danger.

Here's something that might shock a busker....
The inside of a set of penguin cups. I received an email today after inquiring about their cups and balls selection process. This is a snippet of what I got back... Quote:
I took a close look at the Johnson cups while in Vegas, as well as the Penguin cups ( terrible finish on the Penguin cups - the insides looked to be some sort of science experiment gone bad). I had to laugh at that. In fact the penguin cups pretty much sum up their business practices in general... shiny and nice on the outside, but when you look deeper, it's not the bargain your thought it was. You get what you pay for.

Is that a sign that one needs to fix something in the routine, or just that the smell of hot roast beef sandwiches has wafted into the lunchtime crowd? Best, Vince Hancock |

Having what you think is a great show and getting a mediocre hat.
Having what you think is a mediocre show and getting Hat From The Gods. Both of them happened to me at the same event. What happened? It was a 2 weekend festival up in Tahoe. The festival organizer thought to promote the fair to the casinos just down the street between week 1 and week 2. On week 2, the bus from HaveCashistan drove up and dropped off many, many people bearing disposable income. Having someone drop two $20 bills in your hat - from the Bank of Zimbabwe. ... I still HAVE those bills. And some SCA coinage, and a couple shillings... and I haven't left the US yet!
