Card College by R Giobbi is recognized by the whole majority of Magic Café Members as one of the best book to learn card magic. Since every chapter is "illustrated" with some tricks, which one do you like most ?
My personal choice (but has not read the 5 vol yet) goes to The Acrobat family, The lie Detector and The Coué test (all in vol 1) :bikes: |

My most performed effect from this series is called “Lucky Coin”. You could get away with the worst Top Change in the world with this routine (although I do not condone bad Top Change's under any circumstance). If you do this effect, you want to make up a few lucky coins to use, since people WILL want you to do it again (for their friends who were not present for the first performance).

I haven't performed it for anybody yet, but I think Thot Echo is a prety good trick. My specs have also enjoyed Acrobat Family and Coue Test.

I like "Thompson's Aces" or "Sign of Four" to produce the 4 Aces, then go into "Strasbourg Waltz". I also have an affinity for "Time Machine" and "The Whistle".

The magical telephone numnber (or something like that) in volume 2.It is one of those tricks that looks amazing, has a nice story and it's relatively sure fire.

I like the Royal Flush Finale, from Vol. 1. Nice visual routine, not too knuckle busting either.

Triple Coincidence (the best Do As I Do ,IMHO)
Royal Flush Finale (for learning the revelations, rather than the trick) The Coue Test (although I'm still partial to Design For Laughter) Thot Echo (I'm still baffled by this) Aces off the Cuff Homing Card Plus (a classic effect) The Really Wild Nine Card Trick The Ambitious Card (Quite a good version) The Invisible Card (an outstanding effect, that doesn't required difficult sleights) Ambitious 1-2-3-4 Of all the effects mentioned here,if I had to choose only 2,it would probably be: Homing Card Plus and The Invisible Card. I've pt these in order with references so far (I really need to get out more)!
Ø The Lie Detector (Vol1 91-92) Ø Triple Coincidence (Vol1 99-101) Ø Royal Flush Finale (Vol1 114-118) Ø The Acrobat Family (Vol1 123-124) Ø Design For Laughter (Vol1 125) Ø The Coué Test (Vol1 125-126) Ø Rise and Swap (Vol1 132) Ø Thot Echo (Vol1 149) Ø Lucky Coin (Vol1 241-244) Ø Homing Card Plus (Vol2 288) Ø Aces off the Cuff (Vol2 265-268) Ø The Really Wild Nine Card Trick (Vol2 321-324) Ø The Ambitious Card (Vol2 337-343) Ø The Whistle (Vol2 374-375) Ø The Invisible Card (Vol3 523-525) Ø A Sure Bet (Vol3 565-568) Ø Ambitious 1-2-3-4 (Vol3 568-570) Ø Time Machine (Vol3 588-590) Ø Strasbourg Waltz (Vol3 615-618) Ø Dance of the Cannibals (Vol3 619-626) Ø The Acrobatic Aces (Vol3 694-697) Ø The Two Detectives (Vol3 697-700) Ø Miracle Aces (Vol4 885-888) Ø Thompson's Aces (Vol5 1183-1187) Ø Sign of Four (Vol5 1199-1204) Volumes 4 & 5 are lagging behind in the 'effect popularity' stakes. Is this because people haven't brought or read them? Did the material not maintain it's quality throughout the series? Is it because effects got more difficult as you progressed through the College? Were initial effects (Vols 1-3) simply more commercial (or simpler)? Lots of questions to consider!!!
