The first time I saw John Ferrentino do the Barstool was back in 1977 or 78. It was very funny. But he did it in a nightclub for an adult audience. I don't think it would be suitable for all audiences.
The Comedy Funnel can be very funny if you don't mind working with liquids. Breakaway Wand is a classic that always get laughs. |

Mac King doing Card From Fly.
Or, for that matter, Mac King doing anything. For kids, the Blooming Bush drives them nuts. |

The "Phoney" Magnet is very funny, and it takes care of the pesky cell phone situation.

The best comedy prop is and always will be the rubber arm.

I vote for the unexpected appearance of a rubber chicken--never fails!

For pure good fun - that can almost guarantee a laugh (even from the worst performer) the breakaway table legs do take some beating - although the fake magnet (mentioned above) sounds good!
Make mine a double.

I don't believe one prop can be identified as the funniest prop.
It all depends on the person using it. To name a couple though... For an adult audience, 20th century bra and shorts kills. For a children audience, Breakaway wand always gets a laugh.

Excellent thread.
Props can of course be of the outside physical or body physical. This nearly normal guy prefers to use both. Anyone for the physical book of comedy. (Erid,,,,Love the pogo stick...) My nearly normal mind can't picture the stool... Is it the one that pops up to your hands, has a spike that gets you in the end or fall apart... All could be funny in the right hands and audience. Both must work as one. My props run from a petrified banana(left for years on top of my fridge before being discovered..in my pre married days...) to old cake mixers, to a slight turn of my duck slipper covered feet.....Raise your hand if you believe comedy begins in the feet....Raise my hand if you are a comedy mentalist.... Be safe, well and creative... Now where are those juggling plungers... theres one, two....oh yeah had to use the third in the upstairs bathroom last night...but that is another tail.... Any prop by Abbott's is comical to me.
