Hi all,
I am looking to find or build this kind of box. It's to do an effect called "The Five Gifts of Life" by Jeff McBride on Burger vol. 2 DVD. I want to give to the spectator a small box that can hold about 2 full decks of cards. I would only put 5 cards on the box. I open the box, take the five cards and begin my effect. For the whole performance...about 3 minutes, the spectator holds the box open in his hand. For the finale, I take the box back, close it and open it again to produce a rose (just the head of the rose, don't know how you say that in English) How can I get this box? Any idea? Does something already exist on the market? Any help would be appreciated Devilix |

You can find the wooden box in any arts-and-crafts store in America, but then I take it you are not from the USA. Still, any small wooden box that matches the size you require will work. It is not a trick box. The magic to produce the effect is in you, or more specifically, in your sleight of hand abilities. Get a box and play with it and it will occur to you how to accomplish the effect you wish.
Or, you could always use a small drawer box.

A drawer box sounds like the fastest solution to your problem, as Professor spellbinder has pointed out. I did make a trick box for my Gunfanni effect, but it is not for the spectator to hold, as the mechanism is very low-tech, and would be easily spotted by anyone else holding the thing. If you want me to provide more info, just PM me and I will try to explain it to you.

If you have a box with a removable (non-hinged) lid, you could have a load hidden in the top, like a wooden dove pan. The performer opens the box (and load), removes the cards, then puts the lid back on the box (loading the box). If you had a tight fit/magnets that would lock the load in place, you could even have the spectator open the box from that point. The idea is a combination of the dove pan and a take-apart dove vanish.
