What do you think on these 8 volumes? I heard that they are already on CD. What would you suggest me to buy? Book or CD?
What’re differences between LLP’s CD and Library’s? Which is better? |

Get the books. I have heard that the C.D. is only an incomplete version of the printed set. You will do much better with the books as there are a number of chapters on various presentation themes, comedy, how to please and audience and the like.

True, I am not sure about LLP's but the Lybrary has 1-5 one the disc, could you provide a link to LLP's disc?

Books! I'd say where you can read them, but I don't want to hurt my resale value.

Many who bought the ebook version (CD) from us think it is great. Here one recent response from one of our customers
"I got my copy of "Tarbells Course in Magic" today. Oh my, how wonderful. I can't put it down. I do have the books but this is great. I just want the information and I don't care in what format. The search feature is the best. I have used it several times and will continue to use it more in the future." — Richard "Dikki" Ellis The searchability for a resource like Tarbell is priceless. If you ask me, it doesn't matter a lot. E-books are much cheaper. You'll get few things less than in printed material, but on the other hand, it's cheaper. Trully, there are so many things inside, that it doesn't matter if some things are missing in electronic version. I would suggest to consult your wallet, and if you have enough money, buy the books. If not, get electronic version.

I am one of the people who chose the Lybrary.com version... And I have to say that it is very good, concidering this version will not cost you an arm and leg! There is is a tremendous amount of information in there, and while there are some things that are missing from the hard cover editions, there still is more than enough to keep you bussy for a long time. There are very good routines, words of advice on presentation, promotion, you name it...
I am very happy with my CD version. Hope this helps! Louis Jutras |

Books. Books. Books. Readable anywhere, anytime. Just get one at a time if need be. No bateries required. If you are just getting them to read through and ruin your eyes for two months on the computer screen and never want to carry it into the bathroom for a really good read, then it doesn't really matter.
Books!
You have to give it away to keep it.

With a price of $39, you could print out the PDF, glue bind it, and probably still be cheaper than the books. Nevertheless, I would suggest if you have the money buy books and CD. This way you get all the features of digital content, searching, hyperlinking, a.s.o., as well as the advantages of books, easier to read, no batteries a.s.o.

Dunno about others but I really like the books on my shelf, though I confess I'm more likely to study a PDf version on the computer!

Can anybody suggest where might be the best place to find the full 8-volume set in book form for the lowest price at the moment? Any dealers have any sales going on? I've read a few comments about some dealers having periodic sales for a decent % off any item so if anybody knows any that are going on or coming up, please let me know.
Thanks! |

There are 60 lessons and you may never need another publication ever. There is definitely more material in the 8 volume set but that publication came after the mail order course. I doubt that the set will be available from anyone for quite a while as it is still in print. Thelast volume (8) was written by Harry Lorayne if I'm not mistaken. All that said, I have a copy of the course from LLP and it is great. I have no reason to believe that the same thing from Lybrary was not be good as well.

Get the books. Not only do they contain more information than the E-Book, they can also be used as a deck press.

I think the Tarbell Course In Magic is the singly most important text for any magician to own. To the point that we are publishing a book based on material from that volume and the whole idea of how I can be dusted off and made in to something new.
If a new person starting out could spend $250 on ANYTHING in magic... This would be the purchase of choice!

As noted above,
> The material is very broad in coverage, and you will see others marketing effects that are covered in this series. > the CD version is the material that was originally sent out as the mail order course; the books came out latter. Both contain good material, but if you want to find a specific trick that someone else said is in "Tarbell's Course", they probably are referring to the books, not the original mail order course/CD. My experience has been that only about half of the tricks in the books can be found in the CD version. Other than the amount of material in the book vs CD version, I prefer a book. The search feature in the CD is certainly handy, but volume 7 has a Trick index, a author index, and a by category index for all the volumes. Furhter, Den Downey(sp) of the Café has put an extensive table of context for Tarbell on his website, which you could very easily use to perform an electronic search, if you were so inclined. http://www.magic-magic.com/tarbell.html Certainly $39 for the CD is much less than you would probably pay for the books, but if you want to buy the books, forget about ebay; they get bid up too much. You can get the complete set from Daytona magic for about $164. You can also find them on Alibris, and Abebooks, here on the Café(someone must have died), or thru some magic auctions and the like. Apparently even cheaper at some conventions. John
