I noticed that Stevens Magic is offering a pamphlet with Fred Kaps' Cups & Balls routine. It's described as being "the Vernon routine with a few typical Kaps touches." It's $25, which I thought was a little pricey for a 20-page booklet. Of course, if it has even one great idea, it would be well worth it.
Has anyone seen this, and is it worth looking at? SETHB

Everything from KAPS is worth it. kaps perform the routine with sponge balls. I like his opening sequence, can't recallthe whole routine have to look for it.

I have it ....very well thought out routine.
I got it for $15 though from Joe a few years ago. The book was first published in 1995. He uses sponge balls. The author and Fred Kaps both used mats when doing the routine but it is not necessary although like they say it doesn't hurt the routine and actually facilitates some of the moves if you have a soft surface. Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated.
I've never used sponge balls in a C/B routine, although I have seen the Johnny Paul routine, which does employ them. I'll have to look into it. SETHB

I have a video of Kaps doing the Cups and Balls, and I don't see a lot of parallels to the Vernon Routine.

Correct MB... it is more like Senator Crandall's routine in Tarbell, not like Vernon's at all. Some Johnny Paul and some Laurie Ireland moves too.
When Kaps did this at a lecture here most of the knowledgable magicians had no clue... much like Johnny Paul's routine. BTW... I only have ONE SET of the Johnny Paul cups left to sell. Next week will go on ebay.
