In the new set of DVD's from the New York Coin Magic Seminar group, there are several routines using the Okito box from Mike Gallo and David Roth, including an in depth discussion by David Roth on the Okito box, Boston Box, and slot box. If you have seen David lecture, you have an idea what he teaches. Its all here.

I have always liked the box(es) and have a few in my collection.
Some will hold an [, which comes in handy at times. A year or so ago, in the LR, I have a routine with half and dollar sized boxes. Along with using established routines...use moves you already know to create your own. Think in and outside the box... and as a nod to Okito..finish with some tums or other otc pills. pop pop fizz fizz ...o what a relief it is.... When in Boston check out the massacre...a combination of Matrix and a Box... Harris have coins will travel

Can I buy an Okito box that is ungimmicked and is just a brass box that has a locking lid feature on it? I need a small box to hold my coins for an effect I am working on and have been practicing with a bottle cap lol. I need to hold the coin out and keep the lid from moving so I need a locking lid for it, similar to that old effect "spiked coin".

Never heard of a locking lid - it would work against the use of the box!

I have an old Okito box with a hole in the top and through the bottom of the box so you can pass a pin or toothpick, etc. through. I think there is a routine with this box in the Mohammed Bey book on the Okito box but it's been a long time since I looked at it. Might give some interesting twist to a routine.

Back when I knew nothing about coin magic and boxes, I started with the Bey book.
These days I know even less. An empty cup can be filled with wonderful things. Harris
