Hi, could anyone advise me on a good source of stock readings and phrases that could be combined with mentalism. Thanks

Fortune cookies. Newspaper astrology columns. Salty but wise seafaring men. Fundamentalist pastors. Vegans. Right-wing yahoos. Leftist flakes.

None of these people realize their reality (none would ever say 'belief')is all catch phrases and jargon. Neither will your subjects. Good luck.

The Gentle Art of Cold Reading by Lee Earle, Commercial Cold Reading (1 and 2 ) by Richard Webster Cold Reading for Magicians by Richard Webster, Commercial Cold Reading bt Richard Webster.

These sources should have enough to get you started doing magical cold reading.

Fortune cookies - Hey Doc C... that is a great premise! Seriously.... billet switching with FC.... so, someone must have come up with this before - but this would be a gret impromptu effect....

For stock phrases and a broad outline of cold reading -- not a proper education in cold reading, mind you -- the internet will do. Try putting "cold reading" into Google. That should do the trick.

Ian Rowland's "The Full Facts Book of Cold Reading" would give you plenty to work with for awhile.

Have to say I took Slim's advice just for the hell of it. It's a very well spent 5 bucks.
