The Magic Warehouse is where I now get my magic effects, but will always do a check on the Magic Café to see what other magicians think about the new effects.

We don't have a magic shop in the area. I could drive two hours to a shop but the inventory is not very complete. So, if I'm in a city with a shop I go there ... Hank Lee's, Als in DC , Dyamite Magic and Balloon in Montgomery, Al, etc. or online The trickery, Warehouse, Hocus Pocus, Penguin are the ones that get my business.

I used to buy at Penguin Magic, but I've stopped buying on-line. I am now supporting my local magic shop. Smile

This is a good and useful thread.
I love B&M shops, so I do my best to support them whenever possible.
I love Denny in Baltimore.
Barry's Magic Shop in Wheaton, MD.
Jim Henson at Mr. Magic in Little Rock.
Randi at Fort Worth Costume Magic

Many times when I buy, I will order from these places.
Peace,
Parson

I agree with Stinkfist, and highly recommend Spookclub.org.. great personal service and very very helpful.. also, the free shipping is great, and even with that the prices are still about 20% to 30% cheaper then my local b&m store..but I still buy regularly from the b&m cause I would be very very sad if it closed.

I go to penguinmagic just because they're the cheapest with the free shipping. The individual forums are also helpful when I'm having problem with something.

Magic Depot is great. I like their selection and they offer free shipping for any order over $40.

Penguin is good if you are new to magic. Most of the time when you buy an effect, you will get a video showing how the effect is done. This is very nice while you wait for the package to arrive.

What about eBay? What are people's opinions on items bought from eBay? I'm an absolute beginner and have bought a few items, and so far so good

Oh yeah, I forgot eBay. I buy a lot of things from there to. It's the best place to find great deals on magic.

I too like actually going into a real store...
Three great places in Canada
1. Morrissey Magic - Toronto, ON http://www.morrisseymagic.com
2. Browsers Den - Toronto, ON http://www.browsersden.com
3. Perfect Magic - Montreal, QC http://www.perfectmagic.com

Online resources...
1. Ronjo Magic http://www.ronjo.com - seemingly good prices and great service
2. Viking Magic http://www.vikingmagic.com

Enjoy!

I get 99% of what I want from Denny (www.dennymagic.com) in baltimore. I stop by and chat with him and the crew since they are down the street. He will take as much time as you have questions about any product. Highly recommended.

1% of my business is on ebay. Mainly for supplies not tricks (invisible thread, loops, ITR....)

I have bought a few 'tricks' from eBay. The majority come with no instructions and as a beginner, there is no fall back (well ok, but limited customer service from the seller) and so I struggle with the 'props' and understanding their potential.

I always shop at real stores since I live in Chicago- either Midwest Magic, or Magic Inc. they are both great shops and Midwest Magic has most or all of their stuff availble through internet orders (just go to their website). I love real magic shops because of the people interaction
