On his current tour; as well as, the international version televised of "Tornado of Fire", David did an illusion featuring Whoopi Goldberg giving instructions to an audience member. Basically, a box is wheeled out, inspected, and folded open to show it's empty... After some humorous by-play, it is folded closed and DC appears from within...This is a great piece...I was wondering if anyone here knows of the builder/designer, name of the illusion, and a good resource to research the method of this effect. It was one of the few illusions DC does that really made me scratch my head in disbelief...
Thanks for the help in advance!!! Bryan |

The Illusion is called Test conditions. It is a Garry Ouellet idea and the rights are sold to DC. It was originally called Millenium Cabinet.

Is there any way to find more info on the Millenium Cabinet? I'd love to find more on the concept. I have an illusion idea that could employ a similar effect...

Garry Ouellet had a series of illusions, including " Airtime", a Russian rouellete type of effect, a Hangman's illusion (the name escapes me but Brett daniels performed it), an appearing jet airplane (Brett Daniels) and a few others.
These were on sale on his website, with the option of the concept/ secret for USD 250 just so that you could find out if it is the right one for you. This was deducted from the cost of the illusion when and if you bought it. I would look around to find out if someone purchased the idea of the Millenium Cabinet before the rights were sold to David. I may be mistaken, but I think Ouellet called the hangman illusion "Verdict" and Brett calls it "The Gallows."

Hi magis6 Garry Ouellet's Illusion was called " Nightmare at the Gallows" and is the same that Brett performs. It has the climax of the magician floating up after being hanged.

I did a little google search and found that Zigmont is the builder of this! I would still love to research this illusion...

While it does mention that Garry Ouellet is the creator, it does not say that Zigmont built it.

I'm sorry...
For some reason I thought the reason it was listed there was because Zigmont was building it... Any ideas on the original builder? Is it Ouellet? Bryan |

SteelLuvMagic-
When did you see Copperfield perform "Test Conditions?" I haven't seen that in his show since around 2002 or so. --Jack |

It didn't last very long in his show - I don't know why. Perhaps because Portal is already a self-transportation effect.

Now that should be the illusion, he could replace his squeeze box with. He has done the squeeze box for soooo long and this truly great illusion was just performed "few" times only :S Anyway, this is just my oppinnion.

Honestly, I think he should go back to doing his story pieces that helped his fame get to where it is today- but that is a whole different subject!

Lotto & Portal both involve story telling. Is that the kind of stuff you're talking about?

No Munseys_Magic.... I'm talking about when he use to do the story pieces with music and dance. As an example, he took the Orange, Lemon, Egg, Canary illusion and developed a whole mystery story around it... It was great! His first 8-9 specials were fantastic!!! You should check them out!

My wife bought tickets for the current DC show. After the show she remarked, "We went to see a magic show, but all I saw was his ego."
I went for a live act and ended up watching video's... enough already!
POOF!
