There is a wonderful effect that I have seen twice where a match is lit by tossing a matchbox into the air and as the box falls, it hits (and ignites) the match. Does anyone know who invented this effect and where can it be found.

Alex Gordon seems to be the inventor. He passed the idea to Robert Harbin. Have a look at some old issues of Abracadabra or look up "Harbincadabra" of Robert Harbin, page 33 (published by Goodliffe Publication in 1979).
