I would like to know, currently, which magic magazines you read, have read- which you think are the best and WHY?

Thanks for that, it was a good start. I guess I am more curious as to WHY various folks like a partiular magazine over another, and what they read it for: ie- ads? Articles? Routines?

The new issue of Oracle just arrived, so right now, that is my favorite.
Magic, mentalism, story telling, and a bit of the bizarre. What's not to like. Tony |

For me I read MAGIC, GENII, and MUM.
I gave up on the LINKING RING years ago because I just couldn't stand the format. I almost gave up on MUM too but their publication has really improved since John took over as editor. Gerry |

Antinomy is great if you're fond of cards and coin. Very nice magazine and good illustrations.

Perhaps I am biased... But I happen to think Channel One is pretty good... Take a look at the past issues...
If you ever get to a point where words have no meaning, you're probably talking to a dog.

Gerry,
What don't you like about the Linking Ring? They are in the process of revamping the journal so if it was cosmetics, it may appeal to you again. I get most of the majors and, though I do not like or need everything in TLR, It does have many redeeming qualities. Joe

Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're probably right. |

Channel One is currently at the top of my list of faves (where can I find issues 1, 6 AND 7??!!!)because it offers phenomenal material, thoughtful articles and refuses to take itself too seriously (boasting Anthony Miller as editor should be reason enough), closely followed by Antinomy (lots of card and coin material with a strong and serious philosophical bend and regular contributions from Jon Racherbaumer and Jamy Ian Swiss), Oracle (mentalism, spirit theater and storytelling magic which, coupled with the subscriber only web content, dwarfs the others with regard to volume of material per issue) and Mind Over Magic (bizarre magic and mentalism, with regular contributions from Kenton Knepper and many other notables). As far as all time best that I couldn't live without I'd have to say Harry Lorayne's Apocalypse, followed by Hugard's Magic Monthly and the Jinx. Richard's Alamanac and The Looking Glass, too, but further down the list. Also... if it weren't so darned expensive I'd add Magick to the list. I also read Genii and Linking Ring, but mostly for the "news" they provide.
