How is Key Accessory trick different from this one?

I answered this on another thread. KA is completely different, far cleaner and more effective. The viking version is more of a magic trick.

Hey All,
I don't usually review effects here on the Café but I HAVE to for Key Accessory!!! I received Key Accessory last week. Well I got so excited after reading the manuscript, and checking out the clear color photos. I headed down to the local Hardware store and asked what they did with all their "miscut" keys? The girl cutting keys asked why? After finding out what I needed them for she was more than happy to give me a BIG bagful. I'd say about 10 lbs worth!! So off I went to practice. I studied the manuscript and pictures again, carefully analyzing all the details that Andrew has placed into the routine. I practiced all day while out on a photoshoot. In between shots I practiced the routine and bent keys. When I got home that night our neighbours were having a party. Of course I was asked to do some stuff. Well, I did a bunch of stuff and decided to do Key Accessory. Well, all I can say is that it ROCKED!!!!!! It is the effect that everyone talked about after, and I did some pretty Hot stuff prior to it. One guys even said "a lot of the stuff that you did was amazing but that key thing really freaked me out." It's definitely going to be an effect that I use a lot! The knowledge that was put into this is worth every little penny that this costs. Andrew is a really creative guy and the stuff he creates is amazing. Watch out for all the other things he's bringing out. They're going to be winners. Mike Berends

"IMPOSSIBLE HAS JUST BECOME AN OPINION" |

Just to add to the compliments, I've been bending keys for 32 years. That is scary to think about. It was the height of the Geller "era," I was 13 and came up with the same method as Richard Mark sold a few years later.
Like Cassidy writes in BentOnStrange, bending a key by hand is virtually an impossibility, making key bending more amazing than silverware bending (unless you are like Alain Nu and can take a spoon I could barely bend two handed and somehow make it do a 180 at the top THEN curl itself up on my daughter's palm until it formed a bracelet for her) by the virtue of this fact. He recommends if you are going to do a bending segment in your act to begin with keys because then the audience has already eliminated bending by hand as an explanation when you get to the silverware. I did the routine I'd worked out in my teens with nary a change for about thirty years and it always rocked. One time in my ignorant twenties, I even did it to someone to prove it could be done by trickery with the end result instead being he believed I had the same powers as Geller! I have no doubts; key bending is powerful. After I read BentOnStrange I did add a couple of Cassidy's brilliant touches. But basically I did the same routine I'd always done and got the same great responses. I was very happy with things just like they were. Then I read about Key Accessory. I asked for and recieved some feedback from Greg Arce that made it a lock. Sorry, but that really was an unintentional pun. So now I'm using the same method I've always used but with the addition of the signing and rubberband. The signing turned me off when I read about it because it seemed like a running when no one is chasing situation. For reasons I can't explain, the routine provided by Andrew turns this into a strength. The signing doesn't move it out of the realm of mentalism into the land of mental magic as I feared. I paid 100 dollars for a routine and don't regret a single cent. I didn't need anything but the presentation. Had it simply been a manuscript or ebook, I would have been just as pleased. I've had it for almost two months and it just keeps getting better and better responses. Again, for reasons I can't explain, the response is several times stronger than what I always thought was one of my strongest pieces. It isn't the rubber band. It isn't the signing. It is one of those situations where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Thank you Andrew! Bill |

I can`t believe I paid a 100bucks for this. The current exchange rate of my country with US dollars is at 3.8,and that's a really high price to pay for manuscripts. When I got the mail,OMG,....is this what I paid for,and the method of bending keys was already known to most mentalist and magicians.Well since I`ve already paid a 100 bucks why don`t I just use this *** routine for once.See how it goes.
The reactions were marvelous. It`s a simple routine to do if you have been practicing metal bending for sometime.I`m already familiar with the key bend so all I had to do is incoperate the routine in it.The thinking behind the routine is really good. The signing of the key and the rubber bands gives the tempo and reasoning to do everything you need to make this into a short miricle.Spectators try to bend the key with their own hands once the routine is finished, they never do succeed...and the key can be kept as a souvenir, and publisity for yourself I might admit.WORTH the price?YES!for normal hobbyist?DEFINITELY NO.Only for the serious performer. It proves that presentation is probably 95% of what sells something and not the method.
Unfortunately too many people get bogged down on methods and always look for new and improved when it's the presentation that kills and not the method. Greg

Hi All,
I picked this up from AG a couple of weeks ago and have to give it my official seal of approval . I tweaked the presentation a bit to more suit my style and it's now ready to roll! I'm extremely happy with my purchase- Look for it in the coming Fridays- I predict a colossal winner. Jamie D. Grant

I purchased about a month ago and although I must admit I wasn't too impressed I finally pulled it out and give it some attention considering the price I paid. I went to a local locksmith who was very kind to offer me a whole bucket full of spent keys.
I then tried this on my wife and daughter. The results surprised me. They loved it. I know when I get a chuckle and smile from my wife that this is good and it fooled her. So next was some co-workers, once again excellent responses. One just stared at the key and then looked up at me and said "how the hell did you do that?" I love them responses... Now I have run into some difficulty as on each performance at the time when building up the end result I am asking them as I move my hand up and down if they feel it bending. Each time I get responses of No, Not really, and I guess. The revelation at the end still kills them but I must be doing something wrong. It is my belief that I should be standing facing them with thier hand on the head of key, my hand on the opposite and moving up and down. If someone who has this and can offer me a suggestion it would be much appreciated. Thanks for a wonderful effect, RandyM |

Randy, it can take some time to get the hang of the more "suggestive" aspects of key bending. If you really want to heighten your bending effects I'd recomend either Banacheks "Psychological Subtleties" or Jermay's "Building Blocks".
Once you get the hang of setting up the "mental" part of the bend you can actually cause people to see the key bend in the open on their own hand. |

I'm still having problems with getting the spectators to "feel" the bend. When I'm doing this and asking "Do you feel it bending", It's getting soft like butter, etc I still get the response as "not really", I don't feel anything, etc.
BUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The reaction I'm getting is tremendous. I've done it several times to co-workers and they freak out. One co-worker has it (the bent key)pinned under his name on the bulletin board. I asked him "Why do you have that hanging there?" and he said, "well maybe someone else will figure it out cause it's driving me nuts". Another I did it for at a local magi shop was simply awe struck. He then told the owner, "you have got to see this, the *** key melted in my hand"... LOL I'm really having a lot of fun with this. It's easy to do and I'm getting some of the best reactions ever. Sooner or later I'll figure out what I might be doing wrong but the results are still great. This is so far my best purchase for 2006, For those that want to truly fool thier audience without any knuckle busting I suggest you stop thinking about purchasing and get it now. Thanks Mr. Gerard! Yeah this is a great trick. Expensive but I guess that is good to keep it out of the reach of most.

I just received Key Accessory in the mail today from a fellow Café'r.
I've taken time to read through the routine. All I can say is WOW Andrew, what a tremendous routine you have here. I can't wait to get keys and rubberbands in hand and work on this. I do believe this will become a 'regular' in my pocket carry around effect, just due to it's brilliant simplicity. I will certainly look forward to purchasing more of Andrew's effects in the future. If you're into Metal Bending, and GREAT routining, get this; I'm confident you'll love it. Better yet, if you haven't bought it yet, please don't, so only a FEW of us have this in our repertoire. Many thanks for releasing this A.G.! BEST... smitty |

LOVED reading of your very positive experience Jamie. Now I'm even MORE anxious to get some rubberbands (already have a can of keys from a locksmith, just waiting to be used) and get working on this.
From reading the instructions however, there is 'one' spot in the effect that made me think it can only be done 'one on one'. Perhaps I should PM Andrew about this, as I'm a little puzzled by the part, 'just' before the spectator (with the elastic around their wrist) begins to 'feel' the key bending. I don't want to say to much here, so I don't expose anything. Or, I could PM those of you who own and perform it. Anyway, AMAZING routine!! smitty |

Smitty,
I too had questions with some details listed in the instructions. Sent Andrew an email and he responded with all my questions resolved. Rich |

Hi all,
I bought Key Accessory (thanks to the Café) and I am happy with it. Yes I use it professionally but IMO the product though very good is overpriced. For the asked price a DVD covering a bit more the handling in the spectator’s hand and a few presentation suggestions would have been welcome. Anyway I pray for the release of more of Andrew's bending stuff. All the best, Guillaume Vallée |

Do not get this at all. I have been doing a key bending rountine for almost 20 years using the same MO, or gimmick, and find little or nothing really new in this presentation. Suggesting that the specator "feels" the Key bending is just normal good psi presentation, in this case started, I guess, by the greatest psychic performer of our time Uri Geller.
Can someone explain why they feel this is so unique. I have bought the instructions and pictures that come with it. In fact I think having the person and yourself sign the key, if it is their key, which is the most convincing way, is too magic or magician like. How could they not know their key. Any time you use your own props it is more suspect. In a large audience or groups you can almost always get some one to bring up a key. I almost never have a problem with getting a key. If not just go on to coin or fork or spoon bending. You can even PM me if you feel it is necessary. Regards magicusb
