I'd like to create a "surprise" card of paper that should ignite a small flame burning a symbol on or into the paper, but should go out itself and not set the entire card on fire. The chemicals used have to be able to still work up to 6 months after the card was prepared.

Could anyone give me some hints (chemicals) how to do that? I'm thinking of something similar to the effect Blaine used in a trick where a number would be burned into the pages of a book as soon as the book was opened. Of course opening the card would only be done under my supervision.

I'm very grateful for any help as soon as possible.

Hey ummm yea I do a trickin my act where I put rubber cement on my arm say left arm and I put 3 and then the diamond symbol and make sure they are connected the 3 and the diamond symbol because what they will need to do is ignite eachother....n e way what you do after you have the writing on ur arm is to have the spectator be forced the 3 of D and then you tell a story about voodoo or ( I talk about stigmata) and say they can make symbols on ur arm.... then what you do after the talk and the force you say can I borrow a lighter or if you have one great.... you tell them to hold the flame near your arm when you get it close enough it will catch on fire and as SOON as it does and you feel pain blow it out....if you do it right it looks like your skin is swelled up(rubber cement) and is a KILLER effect.....and yes I did come up with this myself...its very hard to get the nerve to do but it is awesome.... you will def. need to experiment....when I did it the first time I thought I burned MYSELF!!

Talk about DANGEROUS!

One missed patch, or one small spark, one drip and you have a real problem! Not to mention a possible trip to the burn ward at the hospital.

Also, given the actual burning temperature of R/C, you run a serious risk of not being able to blow it out at all under certain conditions. Heaven help you if it has been contaminated with anything, especially metal filings, like aluminum or iron. You will NOT blow THAT out.

There are better ways to do this - use the search function - PLEASE!
