Yes, it's an excellent DERREN presentation. I love the stuff HE does. It's always nice to see what others can come up with when they put a spin on effects that are out there.

Have you seen an effect like that before?

Interesting video. I take it the person was not a stooge and experienced an actual physical effect? I heard a punch impact on the second punch. I suspect that was added in post production?

Cool! That was most interesting. The first part reminded me of Bruce Lee's one inch punch demonstration. There's a small black and white clip online somewhere of him performing it.

there you go paisa, just save it and run it. It has nothing to do with Pk touches at all. and it wont work on just anybody! and not anybody would be able to do this (unless you are just too darn good! and if you are, most probably you wont be wondering how this was done)

As Dam mentioned already, there are two books out their from Leung Ting, a kung fu master of Wing tsun. The books are about "kung fu tricks" revealed.
Very interesting...I bought mine in Hong Kong several years ago while training there. It has nothing to do with PK touches. Derren Brown really understand how to make the maximum out of an basic secret, love it!

I'd hate to have to schlep into chinatown to pick up another copy. I was in Hong Kong in 1989 on a Martial arts training trip. I was flying into Beijing when the army started wiping out the protesters. They turned the plane around and made us stay in Hong Kong. Almost got clipped a couple of times looking on the wrong side of the street when crossing. PM me if you'd like. You'd do me a favor by not trecking into Chinatown (I was just there last weekend). Thanks |

O.K I guess not>:(
Well it's not from the skills of the Vagabonds, found my copy and the only thing related about it is the Air strike. Which uses the bodies natural swaying. The fellow in the Derren Brown video is obviously reacting to something and not swaying. Which brings me back to the original question any ideas how he did this? I'll share a strange effect that maybe some of you can use in a routines (Hypnosis, mental effects etc.). Have someone swallow then with a finger trace upwards from thier hip to thier shoulder next to thier spine (I do the right side) aske them to swallow again and they wont be able to. Don't know how it works but it does. Press lightly but not too lightly from slightly below the hip/belt line to the shoulder right below the neck. Done in and of itself it is weird presented properly it can freak people out. |

On another forum a couple of months ago, I had heard about Derren and saw a video where he caused people to become unable to move their limbs or call them on a payphone and cause them to fall asleep. I immediately figured "Stooges" but some of the people on the forum said he was using NLP techniques. Being the curious mind that I am (and being the skeptic that I am) I started researching what this NLP was and a month later, I enrolled in the first and largest Hypnosis school in Amreica that also teaches NLP and I do have to say, I am blown away with what can be accomplished by the power of suggestion and the power of the mind!
Derren Brown is good, but nothing compared to what I have seen here at the school (people having root canal surgery with nothing but Hypnosis as their anesthetic!) In the old days of hypnosis (especially stage hypnosis) not everyone could be "put under" because hypnotists were pretty much using one "literal" induction method that only worked on about 30 to 40% of people, but using the newer techniques, pretty much anyone can be induced into a hypnotic state and in fact we all are on almost a weekly if not daily basis (everytime we go to the movies and become "engrossed" by what's on screen even though we know it's not real, everytime we drive on the freeway and kind of "zone-out" and forget what we've just past or how we got to where we're going, etc. these are all hypnotic states) Anyway, sorry for going on, I'm just excited by all of this because I was the biggest skeptic, being a magician/metalist and assuming everything is a trick, but this stuff can be done (through hypnosis and NLP) and it's actually easier than many of you might think! |
