Would this DVD be too advanced for a relative newcomer to coin magic? Thanks.

Any thing that is good is well worth the practice this is how we become better.

I agree with Vinny. Of course you have to start somewhere but if you buy advanced material and learn it, then you will be advanced at what you do. I think this dvd has stuff on it for all skill levels, though you do however need a basic knowledge of coin handling and sleights. It is great! Buy it!

Having a strong foundation in the basics is very important. It like the old addage if you build a house on sand it will come down however if you build a house on rock or better yet drill down to bedrock!!! The house will stand strong and solid. learn the basics.
get bobo's Modern coin magic hunt down roths expert coin magic Micheal Ammars DVD on coin magic Coins on Edge these are material that will give you a solid foundation. |

I had the same question as you, jcrai, and I pm'd Joe. His reply was that it is intermediate to advanced.

I will say that, although it is, indeed, intermediate to advanced, Joe does a good job of thoroughly explaining some of the moves he uses, most of which are reworkings of some of the classic standards.

Magictrickstur,
Are you suggesting that Coins on Edge contains "fundamental building blocks" and that those just starting in coin magic should learn it before working their way up to Extreme Coin Magic? If so, I have to disagree with you. Although Coins on Edge (by Kainoa Harbottle) contains some great coin work and I do recommend it highly, I wouldn't recommend it for the novice. It contains some pretty knuckle-busting stuff that is not intended for beginners. I definitely would not lump Kainoa's book in with Bobo, Roth, and Ammar for "building a foundation". |

You will not indeed get foundation building material, however it does offer something for everyone. Its a very nice mixture of material, well taught, and if you can do some of the basics like classic palm etc. I'd go for it.

Kaino's coins on edge is a great book. Magic is going from down at table level to up at chest level. I reccomend coins on edge to all even beginners.

I agree with The Godfather.
Some sleights may never be easy for one person and yet others may pick up on it quickly. Thank goodness that there's always alternatives. If you can make a routine, any routine, truly magical then you have done advanced coin magic regardless of the sleights you used. |
