Never heard of this design prediction before !!!!
Is this as direct as the add states the facts ??? Symbolicus by Alexander de Cova is the perfect way to introduce devastating mentalism into your shows! You display a big envelope with a prediction. Two spectators assist you with this experiment. Now you show a transparent clipboard with a single sheet of paper on it. On this paper are printed 25 different abstract symbols in a numered grid. You ask one spectator to think of any uneven number from 1 to 25 (including 1 and 25). The other spectator thinks of an even number. These numbers are only thought of! Now each of the spectators looks at the clipboard and remembers the symbol corresponding to his number. Again the spectators never name aloud their symbols and you don't ask a single question! The prediction is read aloud: "I, Mr. XXX, predict that tonight two volunteers will absolutely free and without any influence from my side decide randomly on an abstract symbol each. These two symbols will be a wave and a moon!" The two spectators indeed verify that they have been thinking of the wave and a moon your prediction proved to be correct! Symbolicus by Alexander de Cova comes complete with transparent clipboard, special grid printed on plasticfoils, and detailed instructions.

I'm not sure if I like this effect or not. Although, I will probably buy it to see what he has come up with. My problem is the design board. Some of the designs are easy to describe such as the moon (I think I know the one he refers to as wave) or a cross. However, other designs are so abstract you'd have a hard time knowing what to call them. Look at the design board and you will see what I mean. If I had thought of a number and a certain design came up, I might wonder what in the world is that?
Also I don't think just saying: "A circle design with an X" is going to cut it as several designs could be described the same way. This may or may not be part of the secret, but if it were I think a lot of people would spot that. I still plan on buying this. I am hoping that the principle may be applicable to other things. I may be able to make up a board with more common items such as a tree, etc.

I have it and it takes way to much work to get where you are going with it to make it believeable. Plus a switch has to take place which is covered but it is in the open and you have to work it into your staging of the effect. Magicbuilder is on to it.

I have it and don't use it.
Basically, have a look at Symbold in MMM then you get the idea... Due to the fact that Symbolicus covers more symbols, the final reading can be a little bit vague and awkward in my opinion...

Okay but if you look at the Max Maven clip that I listed there it looks like a darn good effect. Is Max Doing something all together different?

SeanPaul, just watched your video only now....and no!, unfortunately that's absolutely not how Symbolicus plays!

The description of this effect read:
Quote:
You ask one spectator to think of any uneven number from 1 to 25 (including 1 and 25). The other spectator thinks of an even number. These numbers are only thought of! According the description given here the two spectators have performed a bit of mentalism equal to that of the mentalist! They both manage to come up with the same symbol despite the fact that they've only thought of them! Well done them. Considering that one chose a symbol corresponding to an odd number and the other to an even number I automatically assume that the more clunky aspects of the symbols' selections in this effect have been conveniently ommitted from the description.
