And the Canadians take first and second in the women's speed skating....congrats!!
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed. - Einstein

Thanks for that Tony.
I was cheering for so many athletes regardless if they were from my country or not. I especially liked those that overcame great odds to be able to represent their countries. It was nice however, to see Canada upped their medals from 6 from the last Winter Olympics to 24 this time around. Canadians aren't rewarded for their medals so I was especially proud of Clara Huges whom emptied her bank account and contributed 10,000 of her own savings to the Right to Play foundation. One of the American athletes contributed 40,000 from his medal winnings to the foundation to get the ball rolling. (apologies as I don't remember his name at the moment.)I hope someone can post his name. The Right To Play foundation assist children in impoverished countries. It's great to see some sports heros want to share their good fortune. Gotta love stories like that! |
