Mr. Aldo Colombini is lecturing in Oslo at the 29.March, unfortunately I'm not familiar with his work - yet, so if you could reccomend something he has published that you really loved, it would be greatly appreciated.
It's nice to be prepeared -e-

Aldo is a wonderful magician, very nice guy and extremely entertaining. We had the pleasure to share his conference last week in Bogota for FLASOMA 2006.
I don't have any DVD of AC but would be interested in your recommendations. What about Fireworks ? 10 cards chosen by spectator and displayed in different spectacular ways. :bikes: |

I have a bunch of Aldo's rope stuff. I really like his "Still Ringing" ring and rope stuff.
He also does a terrific cups and balls routine. His website is http://www.mammamiamagic.com/ He lectured in our town a couple of years ago. It is my favorite lecture of all time. Not only will you learn a lot, but he is funny and really entertaining. Jon |

Aldo's material is very entertaining and not very difficult.
Some of his "older" material may still available on a 4 video set (LASTING IMPRESSIONS) at 10 bucks a piece! L&L pub http://www.llpub.com/zenshop/index.php?m......p;page=2 There are some real gems with cards (Pre-Deck-Ability, Nice Salad), ropes (Tightrope), and others items (Mamma Mia cups and balls) in those videos. At that price, it's a great place to be introduced to Aldo's work! Bosco |

I don't think Lasting Impressions are available on DVD as of yet.
It actually may be a good thing to keep these nice routines under wraps(disguised as a low tech video ). Bosco |

If you are interested in strolling magic, His "Standing Room Only" DVD is very good. For close-up, parlor, and stage, "Lasting Impressions" set are all excellent.

Thanks for the info guys, I did'nt know he had this much out on print and DVD. I found these two DVD sets on the mymagic site, and they seem especially interesting: The Impromptu Card Magic vol. 1 - 3 and the set D Byrd mentioned: The Essential Aldo Colombini 3 volume DVD set. Any thoughts?

Aldo came out with 2 new DVDs called True Magic Vol 1 and 2.
I have watched them and have to say that his effects are easy to do and do pack a considerable punch

I have the Essential Aldo Colombini DVD's and I like all three of them. They offer a variety: cards, sponge balls, ropes, cups and balls. Like someone else mentioned, most of his routines do not require anything overly complicated which frees you up to work with the presentation. He is also a funny man who has a relaxed air to him and who creates a nice rapport with the audience. Two days ago I ordered Standing Room Only so I can't comment on that DVD just yet.

I had the pleasure of attending one of Aldo Colombinis lectures last year at California Magic http://www.calmagic.com/
Aldo had a nice selection of his material for sale afer the lecture. I think all his material is great and most is fairly easy to perform. I bought Fireworks and Standing Room Only. |

Brilliant. I have watched them NUMEROUS times, he is a superb entertainer, creator and comedian if you like that kind of style, which, obviously, I do. I believe out of everything I like the most is his one liners, I know some of them are bad, “but you will use them tomorrow”.
Not sure if the rubber illusion is his genius handling of that particular effect, but that alone, for me, was worth the price of the entire 3 volume set.

Aldo's material is fairly easy to do and mostly very effective, relying more on subtleties than knucklebusting sleight of hand. He has a relaxed and humourous manner. Why not wait until you see him and see what impresses you most and THEN make a purchase (directly from him after the lecture)?

Attended his lecture last year and can't say enough good things about him and his material. He's a real down-to-earth guy who even responded to my e-mail when I had a question about one of the tricks on the Essential Aldo set.
I highly recommend "The Essential Aldo 3 DVD set". It has a perminent place in my library. |

Eirik,
I am wondering how you enjoyed the lecture. I had the same questions as you before I saw Aldo Colombinis lecture and quickly learned that he performs great stuff. The next time he performs a show in my area I will be sure to catch it. ~ Dan |
