If you search the site, you'll find many other ideas as well, from beeswax to making your own. I plan to try the later to vary the consistency. I've found that sometimes using poster tac works well for some effects (for example, when doing The Web the harder magic wax can fall off a smooth hand or a moist hand but the poster stuff really has more stickyness to it and solved the problem). I have a hard magicians wax that works well for IT work. It was Hank Lee's generic stuff.

Real magicians buy a (yellow) wax ring like used to mount a toilet to the floor. It is a lifetime supply. Share it with your friends.
It's as good as the wax from magic shops except that it works! Sorry, it may also be cheaper. Canning paraffin is not what you seek. It is not as sticky as bees’ wax. Warning! Wax will burn! Don’t over heat it to soften it. Good wax will safely stick two half dollars together so that you can flip them as one coin. (That’s a Bobism!) Good Luck! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

A mixture of the wax ring with ordinary paraffin, melted together, is what I use. The more of the wax ring stuff you use, the softer and sticker it will be. You can experiment to get the right texture for your needs.

Buy Bee's Wax at Michael's, for $10.00 the block is big enough to make maybe 50 cans at retail.
Good luck, Dick Lucas

Just make sure you use the new toilet ring, don't try to make good use of that old when you change the one on the toilet. Recycling has it's limits.

Just purchase some wax and support the local magic dealer.
