Friends, I'm primarily a puppeteer, not a clown. May I call upon your collective wisdom?
I'm building a walking Punch and Judy show and need professional clown shoes, pants, and suspenders. When wearing the walking stage I'm visible from the knees down. Who makes the pro leather shoes these days? Whom do you recommend? I'm assuming John the Clown Shoemaker is long gone, and what of Al Fast? I've seen the sites of many suppliers, but I don't want to buy blind. Thanks in advance for your help! Rick |

Rick,
Check out Spears clown shoes. They have a website but I'm not sure about the web address. I was there recently but I googled a search. I have a pair of Spears clown shoes and I am very happy with them. They were contracted by Universal Studios to make the shoes for the good people in Whoville for the movie "The Grinch. They custom make them to your foot and ankle measurments and have many styles and colors to choose from. You used to could get them made in up to 4 color combinations. Mine are very comfortable, lightweight, well-built, and durable. Regan

Al fast died about 4 or 5 years ago. Contact Pricilla Mooseburger do a search for mooseburger originals they have any thing you need and can put you in touch with the Maker of the ringling clown shoes. His name slips my memory at the moment. Hope this helps. Chuck Lyons

I'd like to also recommend Spears. I sent them an outline of my foot and they handcrafted a beautiful pair of shoes using the design and colors I picked from their selections. They are soft and comfortable, yet supportive. They last a long time. I had the sole covering replaced after a few years, but the uppers are in awesome shape.

Costumes by Betty will not disappoint you on the clothes. Spears does have some fine shoes but you are going to pay a high!! price for them. I got some thru Daytona magic for about $180.00 and they're great.
