What do you think of David Regal's effect "There and Back"? It reads great (what doesn't?), but I was curious what others thought who have seen it/own it. Thanks in advance!!

It's a strong effect and good routine if you do seated magic, otherwise, not recommended. I have one that has never been used. PM me if interested. I perform stand-up and walk around, therefore it doesn't fit into my genre.

I agree with the above post - it's not a walk-around trick. For a formal show, however, it's very good and for years was the closing effect of my Magic Castle act. However, I would not call is a "seated" trick - in fact I don't think I've ever done it seated! I perform it standing behind a table.
Hope this helps. |

Hello David, I am really surprised to see an honest evaluation from a creator of a card effect. Many creators of effects get upset when people critize an effect. Although this is not a crtizisem per se it is an honest evaluation of what to expect of a performance venue. Well done! Your comments really impressed me.

I have the effect on David's dvd and when I saw it performed it blew me away. After seeing the explanation I could not believe how some mindblowing effects are very easy. This is typical David Regal "Ingenious" and very easy to accomplish as are most of David's effects..

The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

I remember David placing a finger ring underneath a napkin, which he then covered with a wine glass. There was another wine glass, which was inverted over a different napkin...where eventually the finger ring travelled magically. David, gives a good lecture and has many fine books and other items for sale, "There and Back" is a stunning visual effect, which I like a lot!!

The only issue I have with this effect is that the gimmick is meant to look confusing but it also makes it difficult to see the ring!
