Well of course... as a layman... to find out that coins can be machined like this is a jawdropper.
Bob told me that if you use a little sleight of hand AND a gimmick... the layman has no chance... comlete bafflement. It's a great trick. Doc

Johnsons coins are modelled after a genuine old chinese coin. The stering ones however aren't and the characters are nonsense. I too use the Rickshaw token line (thanks Doc), with both sets... it's more important to be entertaining than correct.

Currently, a lot of places are selling "Feng Shui" coins, which are fake brass coins which are placed about a home to draw wealth to the occupants.
Since the Johnson/Sterling sets use fake brass coins, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to call them "Feng Shui" coins. Heck, it might even inspire a theme for the presentation. But you didn't hear it from me. |

I have a CSB set, but I haven't found a good patter yet.
I don't like the basic presentation (I have the copper coin, the chinese coin and ... oh, it's now an half dollar)
I thinked about a story which envolved 3 themes : friendship (centavo), success (half-dollar)and wisdom (chinese), but I'm not happy whith it.
Just for curiosity, what kind of patter do you use for this trick ? Thanks.

The Unforgetable Coin Magic of Cody Fisher "Real World CSB" Paul Green´s "In the Trenches" has an aplicable routine called "2 Copper Silver". That said, I am enjoying the comments on this thread. The reason I posted this in the first place is that I am a hobbyist but my career puts me in touch with well travelled people from many places around the world, some of whom I occasionally share my magic with. Thus, I have Mexican friends (the centavo), American friends (the Kennedy Half) and Chinese friends. CSB is a great routine for the globalized world we now live in! Saludos, José.

A great CSB routine that doesn't require the use of pockets and doesn't reveal extra coins (as does Doc Eason's) is Jim Lewis's "Foreign Exchange," taught on his video, Million Dollar Mysteries.
Jim invented the move in which you simply wave your hand to change the half to the two foreign coins -- visually; this sequence is used in one phase of his routine and taught on the tape. The routine is also beautifully constructed, allowing the coins to be inspected at the beginning and end, if you like. Cheers, Jerry |
