I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for comedic handling of the Malini Egg Bag. I'm having a hard time getting laughs out of the prop, and I play pretty much everything for comedy. Any suggestions?

Check out Martin Lewis' routine. Albeit he doesn't use a Malini bag (he uses the Senor Mardo bag) there are a lot to be learned from his routine.

Johnny Thompson has a nice rotuine on a Steven's video.

Id you do the 'egg under the arm' bit try this. if you go under your arm 'pretending to put the egg there load a fake omlet.(sunny side up?) so when you show what's under the arm there's the omlet. an eggcelent joke works great.

For utter comedy with the egg bag, Jeff Hobson or Tom Mullica are your best bets. After seeing Thompson's routine, I would say it's a subdued comedy with mystery whereas Hobson's routine comes at you full blown with flair. Again, personalities play a big part as to how this routine will be pulled off. Not everyone can emmulate humor like Mullica, Hobson or Thompson and that's what makes them so great.

Gazzo plays it pretty funny with his egg bag routine. You might be able to get

Not only does he perform a funny routine, there are some moves on the DVD that will even fool magicians who are used to doing the egg bag.

My friend Jim sent me a DVD with some old Tommy Cooper performances on it. He had a very funny routine with an egg bag.

Pick up Denny Haney's Live show on VHS. He's been doing the Egg bag in his stage show for over 20yrs. You get to see just how powerful of item this is when done right. In addition you get to view an hour show that has it all mystery, comedy, structure, prop and audience management.

Wayne does a very funny yet simple egg bag. Denny's routine is also wonderful as well a Hobson's. All are available on DVD.

I use a wooden egg, layed by a decoy!

never seen it.
So is Denny's as stated above. Never seen that one either.

the thompson/miller routines to me are boring with tired humor.
I didn't laugh once.

Yeah, but I think it's going to be another twenty years or so before anyone can do one of Tommy's bits.

Suggest you search for funny quips/quotations relating to chickens, eggs,roosters....make one of the volunteers twirl around before rediscovering the egg in the bag.
