From 1992 to 1997 I owned and ran a Magic Shop here in Melbourne. It was a frantically busy time, but it did produce one of the funniest moments I've ever had.

A health inspector came to the shop checking on the ingredients of various edible products (Blue mouth candy, hot nuts, etc) I showed him everything... then he spotted tins of peanuts on the shelf.

He wanted to inspect them too.

I explained they were not food but he kept insisting getting angrier at me all the time. He must have thought I was trying to pull one over on him.

Finally, I simply took the nuts off the shelf and placed them on the counter in front of him. He opened the can. The snakes jumped out. I almost bit my tongue in half to stop myself from laughing.

Silence.

He left the shop without saying a word and I never heard from him again

Dear Tim:

You have some agressive health inspectors in Australia! Holy cow, brother! Apparently he found the snakes unedible. Best,

I've got to say Brad, you could not dream of a better set up for the peanut tin gag! It was perfect... and I was the only witness!
