Dang! That doesn't work here because we use day/month here instead of month/day. And I was so hoping I could call my boss and tell him I wont come to work as I am celebrating pi day...

It's Pi Day, the day that we celebrate the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. As you may know, this is approximately 3.14, so March 14 (3/14) is Pi Day, celebrated by math geeks and number freaks all over the world.
Pi Day is also a day that requires some of us to contemplate our goals, because one activity on Pi Day is the memorization of digits of Pi. Pi is an irrational number that stretches on to infinity, never repeating or showing any pattern. Mathematicians, ordinarily not given to bursts of poetry, classify Pi as a transcendental number, meaning a number that cannot be expressed as the root of any algebraic equation with rational coefficients. Even if you do not understand enough math to know what that means, the words are wonderful. Pi is transcendental, and has been proven not to have rational roots. Isn't that something for all performers and artists to aspire to? Transcendence, and release from our rational roots. Pi, as the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, reminds us that even a very simple question can have a complex and transcendent answer. You can read about my Pi memorization experiences, and view the first 5,200 digits of Pi. I hope to take up the Pi challenge again in the future, breaking my prior record. Happy Pi Day, all! Yours, Paul |

Let's all celebrate again on Pi Approximation Day, July 22 (7/22). This works better for our friends in Europe, because 22/7 is approximately Pi.
Yours, Paul |

Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |

LOL Good one Mr. Baker.
BUT - I must disagree...in A, Pi R Squared. [A = pi(r)^2] Alright...that was pretty bad.....lol |

2 pi, or not 2 pi? That is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous digits, or to take arms against a sea of numbers, and by algebra end it?
Don't...ask....... |
