Hi all, Are there any other real good card stacks out there other than the Si Stebbens Stack? And If you post one maybe if you know where I can find out about it and how to use it etc.?
Thanks.

All types of memorized deck. There's plenty info you can find on the net. I use the Mnemonica stack. Juan Tamariz has written a brilliant book on it. It's called "Mnemonica." Another very popular stack is the Aronson deck.

Everyone has a personal favourite, and will be only too happy to recommend it to you, without even know the use(s) to which you wish to put it! There are many full-deck stacks, the most popular being circular ("rosary") stacks and memorized stacks. I have written a fairly detailed essay on these that you are welcome to read to get you started. The most important thing to understand is that there is no "perfect" solution. Like everything else that is designed, a full-deck stack is an exercise in tradeoffs. What's important is that you clearly understand the uses to which you will put the stack, and choose one whose tradeoffs best match your needs.

This thread and the other 2 (3?) threads on memorized decks that are currently showing on the first page of this forum, I found these back using the search engine of this site:

(From last month)

(Older but still relevant)

They seem to offer a lot of the advice you are seeking, including which stacks are good for what, the difficulty levels, where to learn them, etc.

I don't work with stacked decks myself, but remembered seeing some good discussions about the topic recently. I hope this helps a bit if noone else posts answers on this thread.

Oh, and good luck with it!

Mark - As some other alternatives, you will not be disappointed with Doug's "Quickstack" from his "Mindsights" booklet. It is absolutely ingenious and something I use! See:

Also, you might want to PM Rannie Raymundo regarding his BCS variation. I'm not sure if he has released it to the public or not. - Scott

Scott,

Thanks for remembering my stack. I'm afraid I have no plans of releasing it. There are only less than 10 in the world who know this. Perhaps in time I will release this. I will have to discuss with Richard first as it is a derivative of his stack. I humbly believe that my stack is quicker though. Though it is a derivative in ways, even the BCS users will not recognize so much so know the way around it.

Enjoy it my friend,

Rannie

Si Stebbins is a card "system". If what you are looking for is something similar to Si Stebbins, but not so recognizable, then I would recomend "The Breakthrough Card System" by Richard Osterlind.

The breakthrough card system is easy to learn, and is absolutely unrecognizable to your spectators.

Richard Osterlind Mind Mysteries Vol 2 teaches you the system, and also teaches you 5 excellent tricks with it.

If you haven't seen these tricks yet, then you are in for a real treat. They are the best tricks I have ever seen with a stacked deck.

Regardless of which stack you decide on, you simply have to get the Tamariz Mnemonica book, as it is (in my opinion) the finest book ever published on memdeck work, and many of its effects can be done with any other full deck stack. And if you do get the Mnemonica book, you just might find yourself convinced (as I was) of the inherent advantages and built-in effects of this stack (shuffling in and out of the stack from new deck order in front of spectators is just one example of many built-in advantages of Mnemonica). Of all of the most popular stack, this is the most recent entry into the field and in a real sense represents the most highly evolved work.
