May I know the history behind this leather chop cup?
I am a beginner in Cups and Balls Cups history and have been inspired by this forum to start a collection in Cups and Balls. My collections started with all kinds of playing cards and now would like to include Cups and Balls. I have been following the posts here and my eye balls are really sore now - in keeping up with the posts every day. hehe Thanks in advance for your contributions. |

Bill Palmer has The Merlin the Magician Leather Chop Cup made for him to use on his Lecture tour. The Chop Cup and balls is available for $35.00 US at this address:
http://www.adessoverlag.com/cupsandballs.htm As far as history the following is a quote from the web site. "For our upcoming lecture tour, we had these cups made to be similar to the cup that I used at the Texas Renaissance Festival and Scargborough Faire. The cup is dark brown leather, with white leather covered balls. It comes complete with my routine and patter. All you need to complete the set are the load balls that I recommend." If you want to learn more aboout the history of Cups and Balls there are (2) sites you should investigate: http://www.jamesriser.com/Cups/SelectingCups.html and http://www.cupsandballsmuseum.com/ Bill Sutter |

Thanks Bill, your info is certainly helpful for my learning before I start my shopping spree for the collections.
Does it mean that The Merlin leather Chop Cup is made by Bill Palmer? |

On the site it says, and I quote, "For our upcoming lecture tour, we had these cups made to be similar to the cup that I used at the Texas Renaissance Festival and Scargborough Faire."
This leads me to believe that Bill did not make them with his own hands, instead he had someone else make them for him. When you finish reviewing the information above we can provide many more sources for research. You are begining a journey that can provide a lifetime of enjoyment. Travel well. Bill Sutter |

These chop cups are made for me by a company that is located in Pakistan. They are the correct size to take a 2 1/4 inch billiard ball as a final load. The balls that come with them are small white leather balls.

How many of this Merlin leather cups do you still have, Mr. Bill Palmer? I am interested in them too. I also have a couple of friends that are embarking on the same journey as me in the special world of Cups and Balls Collecting as a serious hobby.
