I was thinking about ending my stand up show with the cheers professional version but I was curious as to how restrictive it is to wear the gimmick throughout the entire 40 minute show.
Also, for shows where I'm wearing only a vest and not a jacket, can the rope be pulled from the shirt sleeves or are the sleeves too tight to allow for the rope to come out smoothly?? I would appreciate responses from anyone who has used the trick regularly. Thanks, Howard

I’ve used Prof Cheers Rope Trick for almost 40 years. I must have made a dozen or more of them. I typically close the show with it.
Try the search function too, there has been a couple of discussions of this trick here on the Café'. If you know the trick you know that it will work with almost any sleeves. Well, I guess it you are wearing skintight spandex shirts for some reason it won’t work easily and will be clearly visible to the audience (“man that guy has thick veins!”). But if you wear a normal, long sleeve, dress shirt it should work just fine.

I would imagine the trick would not work well with a vest and shirt. You would get rope burns and it would show as most vest do not hang low enough.

You can get rope burns wearing a suit if you pull the rope out too fast. Take it easy! Pull out a little rope at a time and always act surprised that there is still more rope left to draw out. If you are wearing a short vest, do the rigging in the rear where it won't be seen, but most modern vests made to be worn without jackets are plenty long enough to cover this.
