Hi, I once saw on a magic convention a guy who did a comedy "underwater" escape by putting a rubber shower cap over his head, covering nose and mouth.
I like the idea, but I don´t want to steal. DO you know if this idea is something common (= I could also do it without stealing) or not (=don´t do it). PENN and TELLER came up with a BRILLIANT idea of reciting a poem as a time limit. (Here, I´d obviously would have to ask for permission by P & T themselves). Are there any more ideas to put a (comedy?) time limit for platform or stage? Because I work alone, unfortunately I can´t use the McKing idea of simultanous escape together with someone else. THANK YOU! Wolf |

You could play a funny song about escaping or recording dealing with escapes. You could use those fuzzy cuffs. I really don't know, if I hear or see anything I will let you know.

Joe Pasquale (the squeeky magician/comedian from UK) sings a song whilst attempting the sj.
Also, I believe Helen Held does something similar (but not in a comical way) whilst performing an escape. So you might like to get in touch him. Come to mention it, where are you Helen? Not seen you about for a while. Ros

Well I didn't know that's, thanks for the info, but it would still be funny.

Wolf, rather than try to use someone else’s bit use it to brainstorm on what you would do.
The Penn and Teller bit has Penn speeding up his delivery of Casey at Bat the closer Teller comes to getting out. The speed of delivery and the frantic struggle over the upturned knives creates the comedic situation. You could for example pull out a clear plastic bag and a roll of duct tape. Have the bag put over your head and then duct tapped around your neck. It would be funny it the bag had all those warnings to prevent suffocation printed on it (print it on yourself). Another simple idea is to use swimming nose clamps on your nose then duct tape your mouth closed right after your restraints are put on. Mugging and acting more than any real danger, sell this type of bit. Your ability to act is what will give it the comedic bent. Really make a show of pain when the duct tape is pulled off! OK there are two ideas, both used my me at one time, that ought to get your thinking cap working.
