My apologies...'The Grand Gunigol' refers to a rather 'special' class of stage illusions...be they 'Shockers', 'Bloodthirsties', or 'OMFG, Did You See What He Just Did?' type of effects. Think of the illusions Alice Cooper used in his stage show, craked up a notch...hehehehe

Pkg, I think it is an altered spelling for the same theatrical style. <I myself mess up them French words regularly, and must focus greatly when visiting the Curator's home site!>

Well, a bit of clarification is in order. I do a seasonal (spell that H-A-L-L- ...oh, you get it) themed illusion show, using the old shocker standards 'punched up a bit' Basically I went nuts in Abbot's old catalog and started building. Having free access to a wood shop is a definite plus. My mundane counterparts think I'm N-V-T-S NUTZ! but hey, it keeps me off the streets... An example of my show involves a transition from U.F. Grant's Monster Guillotine to the living head balenced on the blade of a sword across the arms of a chair. Played up for yucks and a certain 'Yetch!' sensibility, of course...

Actually, the correct spelling is Guignol. It comes from the theatre in Paris where the first performances of really gory live theatre took place. The reason that it didn't come up in Google is that nobody has used Gunigol as a term on a major web site until now.
This is an excerpt from http://www.grandguignol.com Quote:
As used today, the term 'Grand Guignol' (pronounced Grahn Geen-yol') refers to any dramatic entertainment that deals with macabre subject matter and features “over-the-top” graphic violence. It is derived from Le Theatre du Grand Guignol, the name of the Parisian theatre that horrified audiences for over sixty years. The theatre was founded in 1897 by Oscar Metenier, a playwright of the naturalist movement who had previously been associated with André Antoine's Theatre Libre. A typical evening at the Grand Guignol Theatre might consist of five or six short plays, ranging from suspenseful crime dramas to bawdy sex farces. But the staple of the Grand Guignol repertoire was the terror play, which inevitably featured eye-gouging, throat-slashing, acid-throwing, or some other equally grisly climax. There is a horse called Gunigol du Cachet.

I should add this -- if you have already registered a business name with Gunigol as the title, no need to change it. It's an original word, and nobody can use it without your being able to nail them for infringement. And if you called yourself a "Gooney Ghoul," that might be a rather appropriate thing.
But if you are searching for people who perform in that genre, you will get more results with guignol than gunigol.
